It all began in 1999 when a mother daughter team – Gayla Gardner and Donya Gardner Campbell – along with 10 of their close friends, decided to ring in the new millennium by sharing their many blessings with underprivileged families. Since then, the charitable efforts have spread from Houston, Texas to across the state lines with chapters now in California, Illinois, New York, and the District of Columbia. The DC Metro Chapter of the Twelve Days of Christmas, Inc., was established in 2003 by Kimberley Alton, Kimberly Loder-Albritton, Kristina Ennix and Nicole Hyson. These four dynamic ladies were friends or relatives of the co-founders of the original chapter. The inaugural membership in Washington, D.C. totaled 12 women who wanted to carry on the organization’s mission by giving to less fortunate children and families in their area. The organization has more than doubled in size with its membership since its inception. Fundraising efforts have increased from $2,000 to over $30,000 and the outreach to families has expanded from the District of Columbia to include Maryland and Virginia.
