?? Our Spring Fundraiser Kicks Off April 1st! ?? Our current mentorship program session is quickly coming to a close, and we’ve been honored to walk alongside our incredible students—and grateful to have you cheering them on every step of the way. Now, it’s time to reload for the next session, and we need YOUR help! This is part of our annual fundraising campaign goal of $20,000, and our Spring Fundraiser goal is $5,000. Every dollar raised from April 1st to April 30th will be used to: ?? Increase the number of student opportunities to participate in summer on-campus college experiences ?? Provide uniforms to reduce the burden on families to meet professional dress code standards for off-site events ?? Expand our college and career coaching partnership to streamline and automate the program tracking process ?? Expand our financial literacy program to support additional students ?? Provide private transportation for all off-site events, reducing reliance on school transportation requests ?? Today was an absolutely amazing 2 for 1 day for our mentorship program participants! Fred Blankenship, WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News mentored our students and learned about the group project the students have been working on this session. Fred was completely impressed to see how well though out the student's presentation was and how large the student's coalition of support has grown! During our mentorship program session we received an extra special surprise presentation from our Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) Family! Today, Baillie from SCAD Atlanta Campus awarded three of our participants with scholarships to attend SCAD this summer! This all-expenses-paid on-campus living experience will give our students a unique taste of college life this summer! Thank you to the parents for assuring this was a complete surprise for their students who had no idea they were receiving these scholarship awards today! The Turner Foundation for Community Advocacy Mentorship Program, in partnership with The Atlanta Police Department is excited to introduce the first-ever Youth Ambassadors from Frederick Douglass HS! Our inaugural class of Youth Ambassadors began this amazing journey a few months ago working with Zone 1 Officers and department leadership. As part of the student's advocacy efforts, they were able to expand their coalition to include the APD department to help address their community concerns. This experience culminated in their awards ceremony today! A huge THANK YOU to Department Manager Hayes and his team at K&G Fashion Super Store in Atlanta, Cecilia Bailey, Regions Bank, and Destorian Cash, Olatunde Oshikoya and Alex Perryman of The Emerging 100 of Atlanta! We were able to outfit participants in the program who were in need of clothing assistance to help them secure Professional Business Attire, shoes, and accessories to wear for our Financial Literacy event taking place at Regions Bank offices later this week! These future leaders we so excited to receive this support and the smiles on their faces when they put on these new garments were priceless!
