A?partner in the San Jose, California, office of Lathrop GPM LLP, Monique Jewett-Brewster has advised creditor clients in every aspect of insolvency law for over 23 years, including in the workout, restructuring, and enforcement of commercial real estate secured and asset-based loans. She also has special expertise in the field of commercial bankruptcy, advocating for secured and unsecured creditor clients in Chapter 11 reorganization cases nationwide. Michele Vives is never afraid to say she’s afraid. To that end, she’ll also be the first to admit that sometimes fear is the best motivator. As a woman of color, Vives cites that attitude in leading to her current position as Douglas Wilson Companies (DWC) President in the largely male-dominated industry of workouts, receivership, and real estate development. In this role, she oversees the company, which has evolved over 35 years to become a highly regarded specialty business services firm engaged in workout and receivership services, land entitlement, brokerage, and real estate advisory services, among other offerings. From her office in downtown San Diego, with the city skyline she personally helped shape early in her career, it’s a role, she never thought she’d have. “I knew I’d be successful,” Vives said. “I just didn’t know I’d one day be president of a company like this.” #TMAProud #TMANOW #WomensHistoryMonth
