关于我们
Stillwater Academy provides a one-of-a-kind treatment model that helps teens and families who have experienced profound family disruptions find healing and success. Through our unique approach, students who have experienced traumatic life events (adoption, traumatic divorce, abuse, maladaptive family systems) are kept in a family setting that provides warmth, support, love, consistency, education and wrap-around treatment. We have been serving families for over 30 years and our evidence-based, family systems approach guides all the work we do. Cornerstones of our program include a clinically sophisticated therapeutic and education program; experiential activities that support growth and development including a one of a kind equine program, weekly recreational activities and regular community service and outreach; and robust family support including weekly family therapy, parenting workshops and aftercare.

According to a 2018 Ipsos survey of 20,096 adults—the most comprehensive U.S.-based study on the topic of loneliness—young adults between the ages of 18-25 are the loneliest segment, by age, of the U.S. population with over 46% reporting that loneliness as a significant issue they face. Loneliness can come in different forms such as feeling a lack of emotional connection to others, feeling socially isolated, and feeling alone while in a room full of people. If you’re struggling with loneliness, here are 5 things that have helped my clients battle lonliness and feel a greater sense of belonging (some of them may seem a bit counterintuitive): - Take a social media break - Get outside - Discover a hobby and invite a friend to participate with you - Help someone - Take care of your physical health

What's the most important message for teenagers to hear in today's world? (answers in images from teens in recovery) Our students are from all over the country, and come from a myriad of different backgrounds, families, social/economic situations, etc. However, the one thing that seems to knit them together, is the trauma they have faced (whether it be abuse, loss, abandonment, issues related to gender identity, or mental health related issues that present challenges socially, emotionally, or mentally). Working with them is a privilege and we see incredible growth every day. They learn quickly how to have self-acceptance, exercise authenticity, repair relationships that have been broken, and how to be resilient despite the difficulties they face. They teach us so much! My favorite message from today - “You are enough”
