At TURN2X, we’re proud to have achieved nearly a 50/50 gender split on our team.??? Starting with a 100% male founding team, we made a conscious decision early on that this wouldn’t be sustainable for us in the long term. Our commitment to diversity began with our very first hire—a woman—made intentionally to reflect the team we wanted to build. Rather than setting a quota on hires, we set a target for applicants, aiming for at least 30% female applicants from the start. To achieve this, we worked closely with our headhunters, specifically asking them to seek out talented women. The challenge is rarely about available talent; it’s about network access. If you recruit from the same places, you’ll get the same results. Being intentional in the early stages of hiring is essential. When it comes to energy storage, gas still dwarfs batteries. It’s not even close. Take Europe, for example, the gas storage infrastructure already in place can hold over 1,000 TWh of energy. To put that into perspective, that’s: → 10,000 times the capacity of all European battery storage combined → 3,000 times more than all pumped storage hydropower → 5 million times the capacity of Europe’s largest battery. Even the biggest battery on the continent is just a drop in the ocean compared to gas storage. And that’s not even factoring in the 2 million kilometers of pipelines connecting the continent. These figures highlight the critical role gas storage still plays in our energy infrastructure. TURN2X unlocks this huge storage capacity currently used for fossil natural gas by producing renewable natural gas, an energy carrier produced from green hydrogen and CO2. By leveraging existing infrastructure for clean energy instead of fossil fuels, we can make significant progress in tackling climate change.
