Navigating Workplace Resistance: Key Insights from Barbara Reilly, Ph.D. In our newsletter interview with Dr. Barb Reilly, we explored a crucial topic for leaders and organizations: workplace resistance. As Dr. Reilly put it, "Human beings naturally resist change." Whether it's a shift in leadership, new technology, or evolving business structures, resistance is a common response—one that leaders must address thoughtfully and strategically. Dr. Reilly shared several valuable insights on how leaders can effectively manage change, including: The roots of resistance: People resist change due to comfort with the status quo, fear of the unknown, and lack of trust in leadership. The importance of communication: Transparent, consistent, and proactive communication is key to reducing uncertainty and building trust during times of change. Participation matters: Involving employees in the change process through input and participation helps create buy-in and reduces resistance. Building resilience: Strengthening resilience through optimism, emotional regulation, and a growth mindset prepares employees for future challenges and fosters a more adaptable workforce. A holistic approach to change: Leaders must account for both the technological and human aspects of change, ensuring people are supported throughout the process. For organizations that want to build a workforce capable of thriving through change, Dr. Reilly emphasizes the importance of intentional change management. Leaders must plan for change, communicate effectively, and involve their teams every step of the way. Women in Leadership: Insights from Lisa Robinson On February 21, we were thrilled to host Lisa Robinson, CEO of OnBoard Inc., for our Women in Leadership event, “Progress and Potential: The State of Women in Leadership.” We celebrated the remarkable growth of women on Georgia corporate boards since OnBoard began. Lisa highlighted how seeing women at the top inspires the next generation and emphasized that diversity of thought and experience is essential for high-performing boards and teams. “We all have the power to positively influence the decisions that define the future. Leadership is not just about having a seat - it’s about using it to drive meaningful change.” Thank you, Lisa, for your inspiring words and for reminding us that authentic leadership and bold choices pave the way for progress. Coming in March! Join us on March 21 for “Bridging the Gap: Advancing Health Equity in America,” featuring a powerful panel discussion with experts Sandra Elizabeth Ford, Dr. Tracey Veal, DrPH, MBA, and Jayne Morgan, M.D.. Women on Boards & In Leadership Make Organizations Better! Thank you Anne Quiello, M.S., PCC and Turknett Leadership Group for hosting an informative, inspiring program where we celebrated progress of more women on Georgia corporate boards growing from 4% to 27% since OnBoard began. Backed by evidence from Harvard Business Review, Georgia boards make their teams better and smarter! Thank you Lisa Robinson for sharing great experience that you have gained from your own success and from observing successful women leaders. Top 5 takeaways today include: ?? Having women lead at the top inspires female workers within the company. They are motivated when they see role models that look like them in those positions. ?? Diversity of thought and experience from female directors and executives makes common sense and is a key to high performing teams ?? Women, just say yes to opportunities that you believe will help you move forward toward your desired future destination. ?? Believe in yourself! If they can do it, you can too!! You do not have to be 150% qualified, you are qualified! ?? Thank you to all the great men who mentor and champion female leaders! Here's the HBR article among much evidence of the value and impact of women in leadership!! Thank you Carolyn Turknett for sharing this resource with our group today. https://lnkd.in/ex63kE3x I love advising and coaching and championing women leaders. Let's go women leaders!!

?? "Hello my baby, hello my honey..." If you’re a Gen X’er, you probably remember One Froggy Evening—the cartoon with the singing, dancing frog that would only perform when no one else was watching. Yes, there's a powerful leadership lesson in that cartoon! Context matters for performance. Just like the frog, people don’t always shine in every environment. Some thrive under pressure, while others need space and support to do their best work. As leaders, our job isn’t just to recognize talent—it’s to create the right conditions for that talent to thrive. Before you assume someone’s underperforming, ask yourself: ?? Am I giving them the right stage to shine? Turknett Leadership Group #LeadershipDevelopment #TeamPerformance #ManagementTips #BiteSizeLeadership
