Yesterday, our staff and Client Advisory Board Chair attended Tulsa Area United Way's Live United Awards to celebrate their centennial year and a record-breaking $27M+ campaign for our community! As a proud partner agency of TAUW, Tulsa CARES was honored to be recognized alongside 71 other nonprofits for the Community Spirit Award, where we all collectively raised more than $1M! Tulsa CARES' workplace campaign, which was highlighted in the Community Spirit video, was also recognized with the Award of Excellence, Tulsa World Challenge, and Trailblazer Challenge. Here’s to the next 100 years - because United is the way forward! ??

We spent Valentine's Day celebrating health equity and community love by attending the Legacy of Love luncheon to celebrate the 2025 Ascension St. John Foundation Health Equity Grant recipients. ??? In 2025, 40 different organizations and programs will receive funds totaling $15M, and Tulsa CARES' Hepatitis C program is proudly supported by this grant. A huge thank you to Ascension St. John for their commitment to health equity and to all the incredible organizations working to make a difference in Tulsa! Today, February 7, we recognize National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day - a time to address the disproportionate impact of HIV on Black communities and encourage testing and treatment. Did you know? (CDC) ?? In 2021, Black Americans made up 12% of the U.S. population but accounted for 40% of new HIV infections. ?? Black women made up 52% of new infections among all women in 2021. ?? Nearly 1 in 7 Black Americans with HIV don't know their status. Structural barriers— economic inequities and healthcare access—continue to drive these disparities. Knowing your status is the first step. Tulsa CARES offers free and confidential walk-in testing Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Appointments can also be made by calling our office. Results are available in 15-20 minutes.

Today’s weather is perfect for a walk next door to take a peek at our new medical clinic. It’s only been a few weeks since carpentry started, but check out the progress! ?? ?? Opening late 2025, the clinic will include medical services, a pharmacy, and labs under one roof to better serve our clients and the entire community. Stay tuned for more updates.
