What a beautiful day for team building, gardening and wrapping lights! Our thanks to Cox Communications team members who worked with our horticulture staff today helping clear out our beautiful summer display - all 7000 sq ft of it! - and wrapping lights in our Tandy Floral Terraces as we get ready for Botanic Garden of Lights! 关于我们
Tulsa Botanic Garden is developing on a 170-acre site just 8 miles northwest of downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Garden is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to promote the beauty and importance of plants and nature to create a more sustainable and harmonious world. The master plan for developing approximately 70 acres into horticultural gardens and facilities was unveiled in December 2012. The A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Floral Terraces, a 3-acre ornamental garden, opened in October 2015 and includes over 8,000 permanent plants, three cascading water features and 5,700 square feet in seasonal plant display. Over 100,000 bulbs are planted for the annual Tulsa Botanic Blooms celebration, one of the largest in the region. The Children's Discovery Garden opened in May 2016 as a wonderland garden environment with hands-on activities throughout. The J.E. and L.E. Mabee Grange event center provides indoor space for educational workshops and programs as well as a unique and beautiful setting for private events including weddings, corporate parties and more. The Bumgarner Family Fdn. Lotus Pool and Stanford Family Liberty Garden opened in July 2023. The Jim and Cherry Bost Arboretum will open in October 2024.

We were honored to host the International Plant Propagator's Society (IPPS)- Southern Region conference attendees for their dinner last night! Almost 200 attendees from OK, TX to FL and WV, VA and TN are in Tulsa through Wednesday - they'll be touring more of our great garden spaces in Tulsa, holding educational meetings in one of our downtown hotels, visiting some of the wholesale and retail nurseries in our area, and taking in all our great food and hospitality! So if you overhear a little Latin ??in the next few days, just know it's probably these great folks talking plants! #visittulsa #horticulture #publicgardens #plantnerds #gardencats

Today, the Garden achieved a long-awaited goal and starts an exciting chapter in the management of our natural area that is part of the Cross Timbers ecoregion. With the help of Cole Fagen at Oaks and Prairies Joint Venture/American Bird Conservancy and members of Pawnee County/OKLAHOMA PRESCRIBED BURN ASSOCIATION, our staff managed a prescribed burn of 19 acres of tall grass prairie on the interior of our one-mile loop hiking trail. The burn helps with removal of invasive/aggressive woody species including eastern red cedar and Chinese privet and is a great step as we work to improve our 100-acres of natural area as native habitat. You can see a "before" aerial shot of the area and learn more about the Cross Timbers on our post: https://lnkd.in/gsaxkSRx #habitatrestoration #grassland #oklahoma #conservation #publicgardens #biology
