Green Country Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that has been serving families in Tulsa County since 1988. Through home sponsorships, individual donations, and volunteer work, we are able to build safe, quality, beautiful homes and offer affordable, low-interest mortgages to families who cannot afford a traditional mortgage. We work directly with our homeowners to ensure that housing expenses are not a cost burden, and our homebuyer program includes volunteer work and courses on homeownership in order to emphasize the importance of community involvement and education. Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Green Country Habitat for Humanity would like to thank the Julie and Sanjay Meshri Family for their generous support of Education Begins with HOME. This new initiative created in partnership with the City of Tulsa, Tulsa Regional Chamber and Tulsa Area United Way is intended to help Tulsa Public Schools recruit AND retain Certified Classroom Teachers. When a new or existing Certified Teacher commits to five years of continuous classroom teaching at Tulsa Public Schools, they become eligible to receive up to $50,000 in forgivable downpayment assistance to purchase a new home through Green Country Habitat for Humanity.

Congratulations to Chris, a mom of 4 and hardworking medical assistant who recently became a Habitat homeowner! Chris spent over a year balancing her busy work schedule with the program’s requirements, and she’s finally holding the keys to her dream home. Her favorite part? The spaciousness! Now her younger kids have their own rooms, and her older kids have a place to visit. When we asked what Home means to her, Chris said, “Home is security, and my kids deserve that.” Her advice for others considering the program, “Just do it. Don’t let ‘what ifs’ hold you back—give it a try!” We are so inspired by your journey, Chris, and can’t wait to see your family thrive in your beautiful new home.
