Yesterday, our team participated in the 13th Annual Growing Health Leaders Conference hosted by the Tulare-Kings Healthcare Partnership, Tulare-Kings College & Careers Collaborative, Workforce Investment Board of Tulare County, and the Tulare County Office of Education. ???? More than 300 high school health pathway students attended, exploring 40+ healthcare professions and connecting with industry experts to learn about career opportunities in the medical field. Events like this play an important role in helping students explore healthcare careers and learn what it means to serve our communities.

At Tuesday's meeting, the Board of Supervisors recognized March as Trisomy Awareness Month and March 18 as Trisomy 18 Awareness Day. Denise England from the Tulare County Resource Management Agency, accepted the proclamation in honor of her granddaughter who was born with Trisomy 18. This year's National Agriculture Week Children's Art Calendar was also presented and the Board recognized the Tulare County students whose art is in the calendar. Yesterday was an incredible day for students at the 13th annual Growing Health Leaders Conference! Over 300 students attended to explore 40+ health professions, connect with industry experts, and ignite their passion for healthcare careers. From emergency medical services to nursing, dentistry, and epidemiology — students had the chance to engage in hands-on sessions and ask real-world questions to real-world professionals. The Tulare County Office of Education is helping the Three Rivers Union School District find its next superintendent. If you're a strong, compassionate, and visionary educational leader committed to project-based learning and fiscal integrity, we encourage you to apply. The district is a single TK-8 school with approximately 95 students. It is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains at the entrance to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Three Rivers Union School (TRUS) offers a mix of single grade and combination classes situated in an idyllic campus environment near the Kaweah River. The district offers a variety of supplemental activities in math, science, technology, language arts, writing, music, athletics, and art, as well as outdoor education activities. TRUS parents are very involved in the school activities. Additionally, TRUS recently completed a multi-million dollar modernization project of classrooms and the administration building through the support of a voter-approved bond measure. The annual Tulare-Kings College & Career EXPO finished this afternoon with awards for students participating in 24 career technical and academic competitions. The competitions ranged from architectural design and fashion design to baking/decorating and video game design. A record-breaking 751 students attended, representing 25 Kings and Tulare county high schools. This year, the competitions were held on the COS campuses in Visalia and Tulare. EXPO is a collaboration between COS Career Technical Education Programs, Tulare County Office of Education’s College and Career Readiness, Kings County Office of Education, and high school districts in Visalia and Tulare.
