  • On December 2nd, TUCP Comedy hosted?Mark Normand?in McAlister Auditorium on Tulane University’s campus, welcoming students back from Thanksgiving break and offering them a laugh before finals. Normand, a local to New Orleans and internationally known touring comedian brought in over?800 student ticket sales. We are incredibly proud of our Comedy Chair,?Lola Rotondo, for her efforts in planning this event. Beginning over the summer with the talent search, Lola analyzed various potential artists and, following her selection of Normand, planned and brilliantly executed this event alongside our President,?Ryan Zaslansky, and Vice President,?Samuel Knee. The three worked closely with our Vice President of Marketing,?Devin Chubb, to craft multiple physical and virtual hint campaigns, teasing the arrival of Normand and announcing him to the Tulane community. These hints focused on Taylor Swift’s arrival in New Orleans, featuring a “grid alignment,” bead unscramble, photo interpretation, a Wild West wanted campaign, and an in-person giveaway. We could not have carried out these marketing campaigns without the help of our?Design Chair, Georgina Eber, for her skilled event graphics, and?Rikki Silver?and?Brielle Tyler?for their work in planning our “Soup to Nuts” giveaway, based on Normand’s comedy special. In addition, we want to thank our?Media Chair, Chloe Sachs, as well as Sabrina Salazar, for the beautiful photos they took during the event, and our?Vice President of Administration, Kate Alley,?for assisting with event preparation, including event space reservations and information dissemination. Furthermore, we appreciate our?Vice President of Finance, David Van Dam, for carefully managing all expenses and event budgeting. Lastly, we’d like to thank the rest of our Board members and the Advisory Board –?Wendi Segal, Jacob Cook, Avi Gorodetski, and Alexa Batinovich?– for helping with the day-of-show execution. Normand was a fantastic way to end the semester, and we cannot wait to see you at our events in the new year! #TUCPComedy #MarkNormand #TulaneUniversity #CampusLife #StudentLeadership #ComedyShow #NewOrleans #EventPlanning #MarketingCampaign #CreativeTeamwork #CollegeEvents

  • BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT! This week, TUCP launched, for the first time ever, an online storefront, marking the culmination of a semester of innovation and growth pioneered by Avi Gorodetski. Reflecting on TUCP’s rich 65-year history of providing Tulane University with entertainment, our President Ryan Zaslansky and Vice President Samuel Knee decided to reimagine the long-standing position of the Lagniappe Chair. Together, in collaboration with Avi, they reconstructed the position—originally designed to support other chairs and distribute giveaways—to focus on philanthropy, merchandise, sponsorship, giveaways, and fundraising. Over the past semester, Avi has achieved unprecedented success in this role. Upon stepping into her position, Avi dove headfirst into her responsibilities. Tackling multiple tasks simultaneously, she began developing TUCP’s merchandise strategy and planning philanthropic efforts. From November 4th to November 11th, Avi hosted two events: a winter clothing and accessories collection and a student giveaway designed to bring students the Thanksgiving spirit ahead of the break. “A Slice of Thanks” This two-part Thanksgiving event invited the Tulane community to donate winter accessories such as hats, gloves, scarves, socks, and hygiene products, all of which were donated to Grace at the Greenlight. This local non-profit provides essential services to the unhoused population of New Orleans. At the end of the drive, participants could stop by our table to collect a free pie of their choice. TUCP is proud to give back to the local community and engage in meaningful philanthropic efforts. While organizing “A Slice of Thanks,” Avi also collaborated with the TUCP Board to set up our online storefront. This platform allows TUCP Board members, committee members, and the broader Tulane community to purchase and showcase TUCP apparel. Avi carefully selected a website that met Tulane’s specifications and designed a user-friendly storefront. This project would not have been possible without the creative contributions of our Design Chair Georgina Eber. If you would like to check out the designs and our new merchandise, click?here. (https://lnkd.in/edS35FKH) Avi has been an invaluable asset to our board. She supported our Vice President of Finance, David Van Dam, in securing sponsorships and developing a prospectus, and she worked with our Recreation Chair, Wendi Segal, to offer commemorative merchandise at her event. We are excited to see what Avi accomplishes with the rest of the board next semester! #Leadership #Innovation #Philanthropy #StudentLife #Tulane #TUCP #CommunityEngagement #NonProfitSupport #MerchandiseDesign #EventPlanning #65YearsOfTUCP #TulaneUniversity #Teamwork #CampusProgramming

  • Another one for the record books! On October 23rd, TUCP hosted its largest-ever student showcase with nearly 700 attendees. Featuring eight different student groups, TUCP Recreation’s Spooky Showcase offered students the opportunity to get into the Halloween spirit, accompanied by haunting decorations, popcorn, and cotton candy. In addition, this event extended the spring semester’s inaugural artist market, expanding the number of student vendors from three to thirteen.? ? This event would not be possible without the hard work of our dedicated Recreation Chair, Wendi Segal. Wendi worked tirelessly, beginning her planning of TUCP’s Spooky Showcase in June, to strategize and execute this event, coordinating each of the student bands and vendors during the show. In addition, we want to thank our President Ryan Zaslansky and Vice-President Samuel Knee for both of their help in guiding Wendi, leading our board on the day of the show, and assisting with marketing the event.? ? Spooky Showcase would not have been the wild success that it was without our Vice President of Marketing, Devin Chubb, pioneering a strategic marketing campaign revolving around past and present pop culture and leveraging multiple channels to disseminate the content to the entire student body. Furthermore, our Design Chair, Georgina Eber, not only beautifully designed all of TUCP’s official event graphics but also the first event-specific t-shirt in years. Georgina and our Lagniappe Chair, Avi Gorodetski, worked extensively to develop this merchandise, and we cannot wait to see students wearing these shirts around campus for years to come.? ? In addition, we would like to express our extensive gratitude to our Media Chair, Chloe Sachs, and Advisory Board Member, Brielle Tyler, for capturing the magic that was Spooky Showcase, as well as our Vice President of Administration, Kate Alley, for her assistant coordinating committee members and securing event spaces. Additionally, TUCP could not have produced this event without our Vice President of Finance, David Van Dam, careful management of finances and insight into production costs. Lastly, we'd like to thank the rest of our Board members and the Advisory Board -- Alexa Batinovich, Lola Rotondo,?Jacob Cook, and?Rikki Silver?-- for helping with the day of show execution. Although Halloween might be over, don’t be afraid that TUCP’s fall semester programming is complete. We have our first-ever philanthropy event hosted by our Lagniappe Chair from November 4th?through the 11th, an Advisory Board giveaway on November 5th, a Lagniappe pie giveaway on November 11th, and a fall comedy show hosted by our Comedy Chair on December 2nd. We cannot wait to see you there! #Tulane #TUCP #TUCPShowcase #StudentEngagement #CampusLife #EventSuccess #StudentTalent #TulaneUniversity #HalloweenEvent #StudentProgramming #CampusCommunity #Teamwork #EventPlanning #CampusTraditions #StudentShowcase #MemorableEvents #UniversityLife #CampusEvents

  • On September 18th, TUCP Direction hosted its first event of the year: the highly-anticipated Giancarlo Esposito in McAlister Auditorium. The renowned actor, director, and producer spoke to students of Tulane University along with members of the local community in an event that sold 1200 tickets. We want to extend our gratitude to our Direction Chair, Alexa Batinovich, for her work in organizing the event. We also want to give a special thank you to Lola Rotondo, our current Comedy Chair and last year's Direction Chair, for her guidance after scheduling conflicts last semester resulted in its cancellation. They worked closely with our President, Ryan Zaslansky, Vice President Samuel Knee, and advisor Jamie Newman, launching a six-week marketing campaign involving scavenger hunts, giveaways, and more, which was executed by Vice President of Marketing Devin Chubb, Public Relations Chair Luka Komives, and Design Chair Georgina Eber. We'd like to thank our Media Chair, Chloe Sachs, and Advisory Board member Brielle Tyler, for taking wonderful pictures during the event, and our Vice President of Administration Kate Alley for assisting with ticket sales and giveaway distribution. Further, this event would not have been possible without Vice President of Finance David Van Dam, who carefully managed the marketing campaign costs, artist booking, and show expenses. Lastly, we'd like to thank the rest of our Board members and the Advisory Board -- Wendi Segal, Jacob Cook, Avi Gorodetski, and Rikki Silver -- for helping with the day of show execution. We concluded our event by announcing our first Recreation Event: A Spooky Showcase, scheduled for October 23rd. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • On April 4th, TUCP hosted our largest event to date: our spring concert featuring Steve Aoki and a DJ set by Cherub. We sold out Devlin Fieldhouse in only two hours, and ended up distributing 2200 tickets. Our marketing team, consisting of Samuel Knee, Lily Hunt, and Kat Kissane conducted the largest marketing campaign in TUCP history. Marketing strategies included pre-announcement clues, a partnership with Tulane Athletics for a major reveal, and multiple giveaways and contests to boost event attendance. David Van Dam, our Vice President of Finance, carefully managed the costs of the marketing campaign, artist booking, and concert expenses. We extend our gratitude to our Concert Chair Devin Chubb for talent selection and booking. Devin, alongside TUCP’s President Isabel Kaufman and Vice President Ryan Zaslansky, worked closely with our marketing team and oversaw all event operations. We also want to thank our TUCP advisor, Jamie Newman, our production team, B SHARP EVENTS, and our incredible board, including Alexandra Bianchi, Arielle Loubier, Kate Alley, Kristin Kalmus, and Lola Rotondo. Through the combined efforts of everyone on our team, our largest event was a massive success. We are very appreciative of everyone’s hard work and commitment to excellence throughout this school year.
