Nurturing Practical Visionaries since 1973
关于我们
For more than four decades, the Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University has been a place where students, faculty, and the community at large turn vision into practice. UEP’s mission is centered at the intersection of planning, policy, justice, and sustainability. Our alumni play critical roles in government, nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups, NGOs, and the private sector, in the U.S. and across the world. UEP offers two Master’s degree programs designed to sharpen the skills of policy and planning professionals working toward inclusive, just, and sustainable communities: Master of Arts in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning, which is accredited in urban planning and requires two years of full-time study. Master of Public Policy for mid-career professionals, which can be completed in one year of full-time or two years of part-time study. In addition, UEP offers certificate programs for students at various stages of their careers: Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Urban Justice and Sustainability, a low-residency program for accomplished professionals who already have a master’s degree. Three flexible certificates programs to enable working adults to enhance existing careers, move into new professional work, or prepare for a graduate degree program: Management of Community Organizations Community Environmental Studies Program Evaluation UEP has strong partnerships and dual degree programs with other Tufts departments and schools (including Economics, Biology, Child Study and Human Development, Engineering, Fletcher, the Friedman School of Nutrition, and the School of Medicine), as well as with the Boston College Law School and School of Management.

I am pleased to announce that Eric Horvath will be?joining Tufts University’s?Certificate in Impact and Sustainable Investing?as Part-Time Professor of the Practice.?Eric will be?teaching the Community Based Investing course at the Tufts Department of Urban & Environmental Policy & Planning (UEP) at Tufts University?in the upcoming Spring semester. Over the last decade, Eric has been at the intersection of education, community empowerment, and impact investing, driven by a transformative vision: reimagining how power and resources can be equitably shared in our economy, while centering communities that have been historically excluded. As an educator, Eric brings real-world investment experience into the classroom at both Tufts University and The City College of New York, where he teaches "Capital for Good: Finance, Investment and Social Justice." His commitment to democratizing investment knowledge extends beyond traditional academia, as he co-hosts "Impact(ed)," a groundbreaking podcast that amplifies BIPOC practitioners working in investment. This educational work is deeply informed by his hands-on experience mobilizing capital for underserved communities. Currently, as VP for Community-engaged Investing at Earlystone Management, Eric puts theory into practice. His board and committee service with mission-driven investors like the New York Foundation, North Star Fund, The Unitarian Universalist’s Common Endowment Fund, and Invest Appalachia further strengthens the bridge between community needs and capital access. Previously, Eric led investments into character-based lending and community-owned real estate strategies for BIPOC communities as Director of Impact Investments at Common Future. At Transform Finance, he developed and taught educational workshops for activists and organizers interested in engaging with capital for good. Eric's unique blend of investment expertise, community-focused approach, and commitment to educational equity makes him an invaluable addition to our program. We're excited to welcome him to UEP, where his expertise will help shape the next generation of students. ? The time is upon us for training practical visionaries and we are thrilled to have Eric share his combined sense of pragmatism, urgency and equity going forward.
