The Tucson Airport Authority (TAA) is an independent, non-profit organization operating Tucson International Airport and general aviation reliever Ryan Airfield. TAA has sustained its operations since its origin in 1948 from airport generated revenues without the use of local taxes, and continues to invest millions of dollars each year in safety, security and facility infrastructure that drives job creation and economic activity for the benefit of Tucson and southern Arizona. The two airports currently support 17,000 jobs and house more than 100 tenants, and serve a diverse mix of both aviation and non-aviation related businesses, as well as military and government operations.

Thank you for your service to TAA, you will be greatly missed but we wish you the best in the next chapter of your lives.
This week, brothers Scott and Bobby Oppel retired from TFD, leaving with nearly 58 years of combined service. Scott started his journey on August 8, 1994, and will retire as an engineer with more than 30 years of dedication.? Bobby joined on July 21, 1997, and will retire with more than 27 years as a firefighter, spending his entire career riding backward. The Oppels are a true fire legacy. Their father, retired Tucson Fire Assistant Chief Bob Oppel, changed the course of the department in the 1970s when he wrote the paper that led to the creation of the paramedic program. The family legacy continues with brother Captain Matt Oppel. The Oppel family's commitment and love for the fire service is a shining example of the Tucson Fire Department's commitment to excellence. The department wishes you both a well-deserved retirement!
