TUBOS are pre-fabricated plumbing vent pipe extensions. When a commercial building is being re-roofed, typically additional insulation is added to the roof to come up to compliance with R-Value requirements as set by the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Minimum insulation R-Value requirements for non-residential applications above the roof deck ranges from R-15 to R-40. As insulation is added, vent stacks typically fall out of compliance with the vent stack height requirement over the roof deck. When this occurs, the vent stacks must be extended to stay code compliant. Once the insulation is installed, cut all the existing vent stacks to a height of 1.0- to 1.5-inches above the insulation. 2. Roll out the membrane over the shortened vent stacks, making it easy to find and cut holes around each of the shortened vent stacks. 3. After securing the membrane, measure and cut each Tubos Pipe Extension to the proper length, and install into an existing vent stack as you work across the roof.
