rPlus Energies and 11 project partners are excited to team up with Utah State University Eastern to provide $375,000 for two scholarships — the Local First Scholarship and the Energy First Scholarship — supporting students from Emery and Carbon counties, home to our 800 MW solar-plus-storage project, Green River Energy Center. The Local First Scholarship supports students who wish to stay and contribute to their local communities, while the Energy First Scholarship ensures a skilled workforce for the growing energy sector, with programs like Welding, Wildlife Ecology, and Heavy Machinery Operation. “Each time we start construction on a project, we create a scholarship to invest in local talent. Initially, this was just the Local First Scholarship, designed to help students stay and contribute to their communities, whatever their chosen field. But as the energy sector grows, so has the need for the Energy First Scholarship, which encourages studies in fields essential to energy development,” said Luigi Resta, President and CEO of rPlus Energies. “For a places like Emery County and Carbon County, where energy production is part of the heritage, it’s a perfect match.” This initiative wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our partners: Kem Gardner, Sundt Construction, Nextracker Inc., EliTe Solar, Crédit Agricole CIB, TSJ Construction, LLC, BHI, CO, BODEC, Inc., CIBC, and Truist Securities. We had a lovely time at the groundbreaking ceremony last night and are thrilled to be a part of this great project.
Yesterday, we celebrated the groundbreaking of our Green River Energy Center—a monumental 800 megawatt combined solar + storage project in Eastern Utah. At the heart of this groundbreaking event were some key voices, including: Tom Dodson with Sundt Construction Scott Bruno with BODEC, Inc. Thomas Burns with PacifiCorp Christian Gardner with Gardner Group Luigi Resta with rPlus Energies The Honorable Spencer Cox, Governor of Utah, who reminded us that, “When rural Utah thrives, the entire state prospers.” These projects are not just about energy—they're about community.
