L.O.V.E. Is The Answer is the premier provider of educational programs that foster a more inclusive and supportive workplace and community. Our evidence-based teaching model is successful because we address the root causes of bias and other negative behavior, help to heal the trauma that comes from that bias and negative behavior, and teach people at every level how to lead and serve with more empathy and understanding to create a more productive and growth-centered environment. Companies, schools, nonprofits, ministries, law enforcement agencies, libraries and other groups are licensing our film, taking our classes, and utilizing our healing programs. The L.O.V.E. Is The Answer principles we created have even become a pledge that people are taking around the world. The L.O.V.E. Is The Answer Pledge goes as follows: I pledge to LEARN about the people in my community, to unconditionally OPEN my heart to their needs as if they were all immediate family members, to VOLUNTEER to be part of the solution in their lives during both good and challenging times, and to EMPOWER everyone I meet to do the same as if our lives depended on each other. The L.O.V.E. Is The Answer principles can be applied to virtually any issue, from improving leadership and customer service, to reducing homelessness, to developing solutions to the opioid epidemic, to improving marriages, to teaching anti-bias, to improving public safety, and more! They are time tested, proven action steps that lead to transformation in hearts and in communities. The L.O.V.E. Is The Answer movement was birthed out of the success of the award-winning film, WALKING WHILE BLACK: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer (www.WalkingWhileBlack.com). More than 250,000 people have participated in film screenings, discussions, workshops, conferences and other gatherings focused on teaching the L.O.V.E. Is The Answer principles.

A reminder of what L.O.V.E. looks like…

Last week, as I was getting into my car, I saw a little child running in the middle of the street. The child was around 3 or 4 years old. I wondered where the parents were and then I saw a parent turn the corner looking panicked. I ran after the child and managed to catch up within seconds. I could tell that the child was on the spectrum and tried my best to reassure and comfort. I did the same with the parent when they caught up to us, winded and teary eyed. My child wanted to go the park, the parent said, in broken english. The parent had turned their back just for a second and their child was gone. I thought about how that happened to me at a hotel when my daughter was the same age, nearly 30 years ago. Those were the most frightening 10 minutes of my life and I remembered those minutes like it was yesterday. I didn't rush to judgement about the parent letting their child get away. Life happens -- and kids are like cats when it comes to running. The parent didn't judge the color of my skin, or ask me about my political views. The sibling who ran up right behind the parent, within a year of the same age as the other child, thanked me innocently and very politely. I said you're welcome, that's what neighbors do for each other. I told them where I lived and said if you ever need help with anything, don't hesitate to come see me. The parent cried. I held back tears and shed them in the car driving away, thankful that it was me who found the child and not some predator. We went about our day. All was good. That's a day in America, the way this country is supposed to be. In a united state, in common unity. Taking care of each other, no matter what our status, color, creed, or anything else. L.O.V.E. We have approx. 100 children ages 5-16 coming to a free basketball and life skills clinic this Saturday. Sponsors have covered costs for 54 of them so far. We're still looking for more sponsors. We will not turn anyone away, but with more sponsors we'll be able to make the experience better for each student. Looking for an end to youth violence? It comes through moments like this that are supported by a movement like the L.O.V.E. Is The Answer movement. We plan on keeping in touch with the parents and offering ongoing support to each child that participates in our programs. We're not just a moment -- we're a movement teaching people how to love their neighbor. You can make a difference by supporting our work. SPONSOR 1 OR MORE STUDENTS HERE: https://lnkd.in/er5xu24x

It was amazing having Dr. Edwin Nichols as my guest on Profiles of L.O.V.E. We met during a session he taught during my BMe Community Social Determinants of Health fellowship program in 2019. He taught us things about cultural differences and behavioral science that blew our minds! Dr. Nichols developed, “The Philosophical Aspects of Cultural Difference,” which articulates the?essence of ethnic difference?from the philosophical disciplines of Axiology, Epistemology, and Logic. In this episode, you'll not only learn about his work, you'll learn some things about him that you may not hear anywhere else. In the photo are some of the 10,000 books in his personal library. To say he is well-read and well-lived is an understatement. Do yourself a favor, brew some tea or coffee, watch this masterclass of a video, and come away from it refreshed, blessed, and filled with knowledge!? https://lnkd.in/eGEtYcFS

In this edition of "Profiles of L.O.V.E.," Host A.J. Ali is joined by Jane Elliott (whom he affectionately calls his cousin)! Jane Elliott’s Mission: One Race. She is an internationally known teacher, lecturer, diversity trainer, and recipient of the National Mental Health Association Award for Excellence in Education. You may know Jane from her Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes Exercise, which she devised in response to the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968. This famous exercise labels participants as inferior or superior based solely upon the color of their eyes and exposes them to the experience of being a minority. She unapologetically exposes prejudice and bigotry for what it is, an irrational class system based upon purely arbitrary factors. And if you think this does not apply to you. . . you are in for a rude awakening. Learn more about her work at janeelliott (dot) com.
