Today is launch day at Crew! We’re excited to introduce Autopilot, the most ambitious product we’ve built so far. Think of it as IFTTT for your money. Our goal is to build the best possible banking experience for families, and with this launch Crew is now the smartest bank account as well. With autopilot you can set triggers based on balance changes, card transactions, or specific days of the week or month. Then you can define one or more actions to follow, like moving money, splitting a paycheck, sending a notification. For the tinkerers and nerds out there you can even hit a webhook. It opens up a world of possibilities for customers to automate their finances. We have a few templates that are ready for you to use, or you can build your own from scratch. Here are some of the things you can do with autopilot today: - Automatically saving part of every paycheck. - Set up a saving bonus for your kids - Play music every time you spend at Amazon Very proud to be building Crew with such a phenomenal team. Thank you to Morgan and Stephen for leading out on this project. We're going to continue adding more triggers and actions, so let us know what you'd like to be able to do in Crew!
We’ve talked to a lot of families about their banking experience. It's fascinating to me how similar their needs are, and how poorly legacy banks have met those needs. ???????? ???????????????? ???????? Families want a pretty intuitive banking setup: - A joint checking account owned by both spouses - A joint savings account owned by both spouses - A child spending account owned by both spouses with the child as an authorized user - A child savings account owned by both spouses with a child as an authorized user - (repeat for each child) - Each spouse can log in and manage any of the accounts - Each child can log in and manage just their own accounts That’s it! Not rocket science. ???????????? ???? ???? ???????? ???? ?? ???????????? ???????? If you try to get that setup at a legacy bank they will generally ask you cosplay like it's the 90s and truck the whole family into a physical branch with everyone’s ID. (even if you’ve banked there for 20 years) If Ron isn’t in office you’ll have to come back another time. But if you're lucky and he is there, you'll get to wrestle your kids for an hour and a half while they (often) set it up wrong. The most common mistake we see is only adding one parent as an owner to kid accounts, which means the other parent doesn’t have access. We’ve talked to multiple parents who regularly have to wire money to their child(!!) since the other parent set up the account. They called a few times to try to fix it, but that would require another branch visit for the whole crew (and they still may not be able to get it right). Even if they were to set things up as well as they can be, their apps are not built for “multi-player banking” as we call it. Children often can’t log in, all family accounts are treated the same rather than being organized by person, and moving money between family members is as cumbersome as everything else. ???????????? ?????????????? ???????? ???????? Setting up an intuitive family banking set up takes (literally) two minutes with Crew.?We've build things from the ground up to work the way a reasonable person would expect them to for a family. Joint accounts for parents, authorized user accounts for each kid. Seamless transfers within the family, allowance automation, debit cards with each family member’s own name, savings pockets, wire transfers, and everything you need to ditch your old bank. We’ll help you set up your kids for the future, and also give you the banking experience you deserve as parents. Plus we’ll put more of your savings to work earning a phenomenal interest rate with cruise control. ??
"This is the first time in our marriage I've known how much is in our bank account." Most families have a single CFO, and it often isn't the parent most involved in teaching financial literacy to the kids day to day. An unexpected benefit of providing parent and child banking in the same experience has been making the family's finances more accessible to the non-CFO spouse. They pop into Crew to check a child's balance or send them money for a one off chore, and while they're there they see their own checking and saving balance. One of the many cool things we've found building Crew.

My almost 14-year-old daughter recently asked about getting her first job, and I was stunned at how fast she’s grown! After the initial shock, I felt proud and had a ton of questions about how to best support her. Good news for young teens—according to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the minimum age for most non-agricultural jobs is 14! There are even a few roles open to kids of any age, like: ?? Delivering newspapers ?? Acting ?????? Working for a family business (non-hazardous) ?? Babysitting or minor chores ?? Making wreaths from evergreens (random, but true!) For agricultural work, the laws are a bit more detailed—check out the U.S. Department of Labor site for specifics. No matter what type of job your teen chooses to pursue, don’t be afraid to help them build a strong financial foundation. The wisdom you pass along to them today may turn out to serve them (and their own family) for many decades to come.? I’ve done the research and found the best jobs for 14-year-olds—check them out HERE: https://lnkd.in/e8txPfDR
Had a great time chatting with Andy on the Marriage Kids and Money podcast. Topics we covered: - What is family banking - What inspired us to build Crew - Why big banks don't pay interest or take care of families - The state of fintech and the Synapse debacle Thanks for the time Andy!
