It's about empowering them with the skills and mindset necessary for success and inspiring them to reach their full potential. None of us are perfect, and that's perfectly normal.   • People Planning Case 103 Last week, I talked with Sally W, a manager?in a project team with five staff members. She chose this team to?create new products and services for the organization in alignment with its mission statement.?Suddenly, she recognized?that they were similar,?perhaps too similar,?to foster the?critical thinking and creativity necessary in the new product areas. Solution: Sally informed me she had access to the company's personnel files for their marketing professionals within its global units.?After our conversation to consider and deeply understand the types of individuals she needed in her team, she assessed?the individuals available for re-positioning. She then chose people who would always agree with critical thinkers,?individuals who understood the marketplace,?and those who were well-versed in their social?climate issues. Takeaway: After doing so, Sally created a new team?with different intergenerational players?for a project capable?of meeting the organization's needs.     Our take at TWN…People planning is for the brave and creative. Most companies have clear strategic plans. Their vision, mission, strategy and tasks are integrated into their products/services. Some brave and creative companies are taking planning to a new level by utilizing people planning. How to place their current employees appropriately to maximize their satisfaction and then product improvement is a natural result. What’s interesting is most people don’t like change because they do not know what to expect. Anyone can create new motivation, have an experience with something you did not know before, and learn that you like it. Motivating individuals to change is getting them to have a better insight in terms of themselves. The more they know about themselves, what they would be good at, and what type of training would be most effective, the more it allows for safety in making new choices such as a new position or job. People planning is a proactive approach to understanding your people and where they could fit even better. Please give them the opportunity to learn and feel more confident and satisfied.
