Oh my. I was invited to present to the OSC Open Service Community today, at an ungodly time for me - 7am. If you know me, I have a simple rule: 9am my day starts 8am meetings with VIP clients only 7am for G-d So it is not something I would usually do, especially when the local coffee shop only opens at 7am. Speaking this early, usually means I speak in half-speed... so thank you to my darling wife who went to grab me coffee, so I could sound lucid. I must say, this was one of the funnest meetings I have ever been to, with the most engaged and thoughtful members. We talked about how GenAI deepfakes are showing up in the IT Help Desk, and masquerading as employees, to gain network access. Put on your seat belt. In my career in cyber security, fraud prevention and risk management - I have noticed the following pattern: People buy insurance AFTER the flood. Part of it is the notion of "it will not happen to me." Part of it is taking the known risk and benefiting from NOT paying the insurance premiums. All a service provider (not a vendor) can do is share what they hear - so an informed decision can be made by the business. In all my career, I have not witnessed a greater risk posed to businesses than GenAI deepfakes. When I say that, as a service provider, some think I am saying it to scare them into buying something.
