Lest we forget. This week our school came together for Remembrance Day, with staff and students encouraged to reflect on those who are no longer with us. We headed to St John’s Church for a service of Remembrance, to honour the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from the United Kingdom and Commonwealth, and reflect on those who have been lost during the great wars. The beautiful and contemplative service included readings by Senior and Sixth Form girls, the Last Post performed by Year 9’s Amelia and Rosie, a musical solo of ‘In Flanders Fields’ by Year 10 Ornela, and the Exhortation, Kohima Epitaph and closing prayer read by Head Girl Team, Naomi, Deborah and Marcy. Hanging proudly in the Church during the service was a ‘Remember’ bunting adorned with poppies, handmade by our Prep 3 class in Art with Mrs Williams, who also leads our prayer group. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. #trurohighschool #wheregirlsthrive #independentschool #ukboardingschool #gsauk

Truro High School is proud to be one of a small number of schools in the UK selected for inclusion in the prestigious 'Commonwealth at 75' anniversary publication. The Commonwealth at 75 has been researched and written by a select team of academics and award-winning authors. Produced in partnership by the History of Parliament Trust and Royal publisher, St James's House, the publication explores and celebrates the ideas, individuals and organisations that have contributed to the Commonwealth's success, past and present. Last week we were invited to attend the official launch of the publication at Westminster Abbey, along with dignitaries throughout the Commonwealth. Featuring speeches by Canon Anthony Ball of Westminster Abbey, Lord Marland and former Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General. Richard Freed, founder of St James’s House, said: “We’re delighted to be launching this prestigious publication, which pays tribute to the Commonwealth and its member states. The 75th anniversary offers the perfect opportunity to reflect on the organisation’s past, present and future.” Truro High School was selected to appear in the esteemed publication as a national leader in education, known for it's dynamic and inclusive approach to girls' education in which all girls have every opportunity to thrive. #Commonwealth #Commonwealth75 #CommonwealthReads #CelebratingCommonwealth #HistParl #ParliamentaryHistory #trurohighschool?#wheregirlsthrive #ukboardingschool

This week we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Floyd Steadman OBE as a guest speaker to our Senior School and Sixth Form. The author, rugby legend, and 1 of only 5 new Deputy Lieutenants of Cornwall shared his inspiring life story, focussing on the personal and professional challenges he has faced, particularly as a black man growing up in London. He spoke with honesty about overcoming adversity, resilience, and the importance of self-belief. His willingness to share his wisdom about leadership, sportsmanship and equality was an unforgettable lesson in contemporary Black British history, as he encouraged students to challenge perceptions, address unconscious bias and to lead with compassion. His talk made an undeniable impact on our girls, who were disappointed when the Q&A had to end - with some staying behind during break to ask him even more questions! We are incredibly grateful to Mr. Steadman for his time and the invaluable insight he shared with our THS community. He presented two copies of his book 'A Week One Summer' to our Head Girl Team for our library, which have already been snapped up by students for reading. He left the girls by saying: "whatever challenges we face in life, you can overcome the barriers to succeed". #trurohighschool?#wheregirlsthrive?#seniorschool?#sixthform?#independentschool?#girlseducation?#ukboardingschool

Today we reopened our doors for the first day of Michaelmas Term! A huge welcome back to all of our girls, and a very warm welcome to our new starters! The first day of term can be filled with lots of different emotions, and although the rain has poured, it hasn’t stopped everyone from giving their all for the start of another academic year. Across the school the girls settled into their new year groups and forms; with our Pre-Prep girls organising their new drawers, our new Year 7’s getting used to their Senior School blazers, and our Sixth Formers personalising their carrels! We’re really looking forward to another fantastic year at Truro High School, as our girls continue to grow and thrive, and we can’t wait to see what they go on to achieve over the coming months. #trurohighschool #independentschool?#girlsschool #girlseducation #boardingschool #eyfs #prepschool?#seniorschool?#sixthform
