We’re thrilled to welcome Matt Wilde to the truCurrent team as our Senior Data Scientist. Matt brings expertise in complex data analysis and modeling on clean energy and fleet efficiency, helping to forecast energy demands and design smarter, more sustainable solutions for the future. With a PhD in Astrophysics and Data Science from the University of Washington, most recently Matt served as a Senior Data Scientist at RMI, where he developed nationwide, granular forecasts for electric vehicle (EV) power usage. These insights supported policymakers and stakeholders in planning for the energy transition, and drew on his expertise in Python, SQL, machine learning, and advanced statistical methods. Matt asks the question, “What if we could use data to forecast exactly how much energy EVs will need, where they’ll need it, and when?” Then we could design an energy system that not only meets growing EV demand, but also accelerates the transition to a sustainable future. ? Please join us in welcoming Matt to the truCurrent team! ? #EnergyTransition #TheFutureofEnergy #FleetElectrification #DataDrivenDecisions #EnergyForecasting #truCurrent #DistributedSun

trucurrent designs, develops and deploys intelligent, distributed energy assets to the grid edge - wherever photons and electrons will go, a true current can flow. We integrate on-site power generation with battery energy storage and controllable loads. Our energy transition services deliver enterprise transformation results to large commercial and industrial partners. Our proprietary solutions integrate PV, BESS, EVSE, and VPP technologies into smart microgrid with transactive energy capabilities. We optimize rates and monetize assets. IF carbon reductions = cost reductions THEN energy transition = competitive advantage trucurrent officially spun-out of Distributed Sun in March, 2024. We are well-funded. We are hiring. We are long on three innovation and value-creation cycles.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s recent $3B Clean Ports announcement includes 55 selected applications from across the country, funding projects that include zero-emission equipment, vehicle charging and fueling infrastructure, and solar power generation. What’s particularly interesting? States that have pushed back against California Air Resources Board’s ACF mandates, like Texas, Georgia, and Utah, are still actively pursuing these incentives. Their approach to fleet electrification suggests an interest in transitioning to cleaner technologies on their own terms, motivated by targeted incentives and TCO benefits. It’s a reminder that fleets shouldn’t dismiss opportunities in these markets based on political assumptions. ? Now that we know who’s been selected to receive funding, the next step is critical: planning. This is the moment for fleets operating in these areas to revisit TCO models and identify how this federal funding can support their electrification goals. Whether it’s for drayage trucks or charging infrastructure, these funds are a catalyst for reducing costs, cutting emissions, and advancing clean energy goals in port communities. ? Check out the EPA’s list of 55 selected applicants?here: https://lnkd.in/eMxT5EM7 ? #CleanPorts #FleetElectrification #EnergyTransition #DrayageFleets #truCurrent #DistributedSun

At The Wharton School 2024 Energy & Climate Conference, Distributed Sun and truCurrent Executive Chairman, Jeff Weiss, and truCurrent colleagues Ben Roche, Alina H., and Siddharth Challani, were part of key discussions about deploying climate tech solutions.? ? On the “Accelerating Adoption: Creative Go-to-Market Strategies” panel moderated by Nicolaj Siggelkow, David M. Knott Professor of Management at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Weiss joined Gilbert Campbell, Founder and CEO of Volt Energy Utility, and Jon Yoder, President and Chief Executive Officer at MN8 Energy, to exchange insights on bringing clean energy technologies to market more quickly. As demand for energy solutions that are faster, cheaper, and more sustainable continues to grow, finding innovative ways to break through the barriers to market adoption is more critical than ever. ? We’re honored to have participated in this important dialogue. ? #WhartonEnergyClimate #CleanEnergy #AcceleratingCleanEnergyAdoption #truCurrent #DistributedSun

Fleet operators are navigating an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. The Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) regulation is grabbing most of the attention, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg. New emissions standards and mandates, including the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) rule and the EPA’s GHG Phase 3 regulations for heavy-duty vehicles, are reshaping the future of fleet electrification across the US. Need guidance navigating these evolving regulations? With 250+ combined years of expertise in?power?plant design,?energy and tax policy, systems engineering, finance innovation, capital markets, deal underwriting, asset deployments, and promises kept, we can help you stay ahead of regulations to manage compliance, avoid costly penalties, obtain incentives while they’re still available, and maximize?your?savings?and operating advantage. With CEO and Founder Chase Weir attending on Distributed Sun and truCurrent’s behalf, we’re honored to have had an opportunity to join other energy leaders in a roundtable at The White House focused on advancing virtual power plants (VPPs) for federal buildings. Hosted by the White House Climate Policy Office and the Council on Environmental Quality, the discussion highlighted the significant role that VPPs can play in reducing energy costs, bolstering grid reliability, and supporting sustainability efforts across thousands of government-owned buildings. Engaging with Southern California Edison (SCE)’s Chanel Parson and Funmi Williamson to discuss their?work?to enhance grid resiliency was a highlight, and we?commend all the participating utilities, including Dominion Energy, Exelon,?Pepco, Pacific Gas and Electric Company,?Southern California Edison (SCE), Tennessee Valley Authority,?and others for their forward-thinking?plans to adopt and value next-generation energy assets as we build a more?resilient and sustainable grid.? ? We are strong proponents of the potential of VPPs, and look forward to accelerating this critical initiative for a cleaner, more reliable energy future. ? #VirtualPowerPlants #GridResiliency #EnergyLeadership #FederalBuildings #EnergyTransition

In the energy transition, there’s often a tension between doing what’s right for the planet and ensuring the economic sustainability of businesses. But the truth is, these goals aren’t mutually exclusive—they can (and must) work together to drive the transformation we need. ? At a recent Climate Week NYC panel hosted by Cornell University, Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise, and Green Hope Foundation on the topic of “Balancing Profit & Justice in the Energy Transition,” Jeff Weiss, Executive Chairman of truCurrent and Distributed Sun, emphasized how crucial it is to align financial incentives with clean energy goals. Profit isn’t the enemy of justice—it’s a necessary force for action. We need massive investment and scaling to build a more sustainable future. ? If you want to hear the full panel discussion including Jeff’s perspective, check out the video: https://lnkd.in/gqGtdvKD ? #ClimateWeekNYC #EnergyTransition #BalancingProfitAndJustice
