Unwrapping the Future: Designing for a Sustainable Tomorrow, at ArtCenter College of Design, explored how sustainable design can reduce our reliance on disposable plastics and highlighted the incredible potential of seaweed to tackle pressing environmental challenges. The evening began with a screening of Seaweed Stories, a short film (executive-produced by ArtCenter College of Design Trustee and Trousdale Ventures founder Phillip Sarofim and presented by Lonely Whale) and continued with a panel discussion, featuring Julia Marsh, Kristine Upesleja, Margaux Reynolds, and the film's director, Jake Sumner, on how seaweed can lead the way in creating sustainable materials that are kinder to the planet! #unwrapthefuture

Founded in 2019 and based in Tukwila, Washington, this innovative startup is pioneering satellite servicing missions with its Otter vehicle, developing the hardware and software to managing everything from life extension for satellites to space debris mitigation. Recently, Starfish secured $29 million in funding, and with a team of 70 talented engineers, they’re preparing for their first three Otter missions with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the @U.S. Space Force, and Intelsat, scheduled for launch in 2026.
