In every conversation, keynote, and presentation, I focus on three key areas: 1) Keeping humans in the loop 2) Providing meaningful feedback to AI tools 3) Challenging AI responses that don’t seem quite right These aren’t just concepts—I share them as actual, practical steps we need to take to make AI more accurate, ethical, and aligned with our values.     I've had a few people recently ask me about the HR communities I'm part of and why. When Angela Romano invited me to join NYC People Leaders years ago, it changed everything for me. Being part of such a smart, kind, and generous group gave me the support and network I had been craving for so long. Since then, I’ve joined more communities, gravitating toward those where I can both give and receive the most value.     When employees leave, their knowledge shouldn’t walk out the door with them. Sharing a micro-study of our latest AI experiment, using AI to make institutional expertise last. Check it out ?? ?? While most processes are documented, historical context and unwritten knowledge are harder to retain. So we’ve been experimenting with ChatGPT Enterprise as our HR R&D lab, developing a proof of concept for a new feature in ALAN, our virtual HR team member. Instead of relying on one-off exit interviews, we: ? Record knowledge-transfer sessions ? Convert them into structured transcripts ? Feed them through our custom GPT model ?? The result? Years of expertise become an AI-powered, easily accessible knowledge base via ALAN. Beyond Generic Exit Interview Questions, we capture critical, often undocumented insights, including: ? Legacy system knowledge ? Esoteric client details ? Project-specific insights ? “Old Car Tricks” (The little tricks long-timers know—“jiggle the handle twice to open.”) AI in HR: It's About Continuity, Not Just Efficiency ALAN isn’t replacing jobs, it’s augmenting knowledge. A team member with 8 days of experience can now tap into decades of accumulated expertise instantly. The application extends far beyond offboarding, and we've pivoted to regularly utilizing this capability to strengthen our team's knowledge base.
