We are celebrating Trenia Johnson's 10-year work anniversary this week! Trenia, (pictured in the middle, holding donuts) works on our 4th floor and has served Summit in many capacities over the last decade, patient care tech, unit secretary and patient safety attendant. Trenia loves to help the team wherever she is needed and says her passion is "to care for others." This week's Summit Spotlight is Katie, RN, in our Observation Unit at TriStar Summit Medical Center. Katie has worked at TriStar Summit for one year and says her connect to purpose starts with each patient. "I love to help people feel better and give quality care." #NeverForget We started our morning with an Honor Walk to pay tribute to the victims of 9/11. Our colleagues from multiple departments, along with our retired fire chief, now our safety director, members of our veteran's colleague network and our retired U.S. Army Chaplain, led the group up our nine floors and ended with a prayer vigil. #PatriotDay

We are so excited to share the "first look" of our new Cafeteria at TriStar Summit Medical. We anticipate the opening of the new space on Sept. 16. The new cafeteria is part of our Tower Project that has also added 18 new ICU beds, and our new Visitor Lobby, currently under construction. This week's Daisy Award was presented to Jay Johnson, a nightside nurse on the 5th floor at TriStar Summit Medical Center. The Daisy Award is a national award recognition program that celebrates 'above and beyond' service from Extraordinary Nurses! Jay received two nominations, one from a patient, the other, a fellow colleague. Jay's patient wrote, "Jay was my nurse a few times last week. He is just awesome, attentive and so easy to talk with. He shows his true passion for his work and was able to answer all of my questions with kindness." One of Jay's coworkers says, "I admire the connections he has with his patients and his ability to listen to patient concerns and questions. He makes our patients feel valued, respected and well cared for each time he works." We honor Jay and his dedication to nursing and providing exceptional patient-centered care! #DaisyAward
