What can grocers do to reduce food waste? Check out the report below to find out. This report highlights some of the work TripleWin has done in employee engagement in the manufacturing sector, with our partners WWF, ReFED, and Bob's Red Mill. Never heard of the U.S. Food Waste Pact? This is a national initiative to reduce food waste across all stages in the food value chain, from farm to consumer. It builds on international and U.S. regional initiatives, particularly the Pacific Coast Food Waste Commitment, which achieved significant reductions in food waste across sectors and industries. Give it a look and let us know what you think!

NEW RESOURCE! We’ve got a new report to share on reducing #FoodWaste through employee engagement in #GroceryRetail. This study identifies five strategies that engage employees in the fight against food waste, leading to meaningful reduction in #retail. Employee engagement has been a cornerstone of some of the Pact’s most successful intervention projects, and this report is the first item in a series of resources about this broader #FoodWasteReduction strategy. Read it here: https://loom.ly/9B773po Special thanks goes to ReFED, WWF, and the Environmental Defense Fund and their Climate Corps Fellow Savanah Van Citters, who led the authorship of this report.

We are pleased to announce that TripleWin has been approved to offer greenhouse gas emissions assurance! Assurance, in the context of greenhouse gas emissions, is the process of having your carbon data checked and verified by a third party. This assurance will soon be required for companies that fall under the EU CSRD, SEC, and California legislation disclosures. To ensure we are well positioned to support our clients in the coming years, TripleWin can now issue limited and reasonable assurance letters to companies that need to meet these coming regulations. To learn more about this service, and whether these regulatory requirements apply to your company, you can check our most recent e-newsletter. Click the link below. You can also message us. ?? Climate Week Day 2! Reporting from the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF)'s Harmony for Health event, Kate Gaertner says: I was particularly moved by Dr Olajide Williams’ comments on the use of music to reach people on topics related to climate change and sustainability. As Dr. Williams said: Make learning fun instead of a task so that knowledge is retained. Do it through music that touches hearts and souls universally and deeply, both at the conscious and subconscious levels. In connection to that, hip hop artist ?? AY Young is currently producing 17 songs, one for each of the 17 UN SDGs. How fun! ?? Coming away from this event, I realized the value of incorporating song and music into Cultivate, the sustainable living curriculum we’ve developed in partnership with Indiana University - Kelley School of Business. I’m looking forward to taking these insights back to my team and seeing what we come up with! ?? About the Harmony for Health event: Leading doctors from Columbia University and WebMD teamed up with musician AY Young to empower the public to spark change through music and art. Visual and performing arts have powerful impacts on our social-emotional and physical health, and as tension builds over the state of our climate, health physicians are speaking out on the benefits of using art as a tool to tackle challenges, break barriers, and address how the climate crisis is affecting our health. https://lnkd.in/gRETGrwq #ClimateWeekNYC #ClimateAction #Healthcare

?? Climate Week Day 1! Kate Gaertner and Janey Silas are in NYC this week, reporting back on their experiences and learnings. From Janey, at the Climate of Emotions event: The state of our climate can be anxiety-inducing, so much so that the term #ecoanxiety has been coined to describe how many people feel about the climate crisis. But can this anxiety be used to fuel action? Six Seconds teamed up with UNICEF to talk about how we can channel anxiety into action and change through art, music ??, and creative exploration ??. From Kate, at The Solutions House, where there are ONLY solutions to the climate crisis: I’m here to learn about lessons learned from Sparking Sustainable Lifestyles. This gathering is part of the Sustainable Pillar program of #ClimateWeekNYC, and I’m excited to gather ideas that TripleWin Advisory and Indiana University - Kelley School of Business can pull into Cultivate, our sustainable living curriculum. Some thought-provoking anecdotes: "Sustainability is seen as a sacrifice. We need to help change that perception and embrace 'Sustainable lifestyle = Better lifestyle'. Sustainability choices are not binary options. Sustainability is not an either-or proposition, but a BOTH AND. There are an infinite number of variations on embracing and living sustainably. There is no one size fits all.” — Solitaire Townsend “Most people perceive change as negative. But there are a lot of changes that happen to people that’s, good like a new job, new house, promotion. We need to show/tell people that sustainability change can be good, positive and beneficial to their lives.” — Kristen Siemen Stay tuned for my distilled insights! #climateweeknyc2024 ?? https://lnkd.in/gGRzugff

What makes the Cultivate professional certificate at Indiana University - Kelley School of Business so special? One cool thing we’ve done is link personal sustainability to professional growth. This is not a program in corporate sustainability (there are plenty of those and they have their place). Cultivate is about PERSONAL sustainability: all the knowledge and tools you need to live your best life in alignment with the values you hold. Living sustainably is the first and most important step for anyone, because it's something we can all do. We then tie it into professional development: How can you use that same knowledge + toolset to advance your career and do work you really care about, even if your job description doesn't have "sustainability" in it? As Project Drawdown says, “Every job can be a climate job." We believe that statement wholeheartedly. Want to learn more? Check out the Cultivate course today by visiting the link below. https://lnkd.in/g9VH68sF

Why should you care about catalyzing employee action on sustainability? That's the topic of our most recent e-newsletter. We highlighted examples of the many benefits of training, educating and engaging employees on environmental issues, drawn from our recent work. Here's a good one: We showed a video on the links between food waste, climate change, and hunger to the manufacturing team of a national food brand. We then involved them in generating and testing ideas to reduce food loss on the factory floor. We tested just one of those ideas, a simple idea, which ended up saving the company $3,500 annually. And the whole process left the team informed, inspired and motivated to do more. Examples like this should inspire and motivate you too. Why? Because educating for sustainability is not just a philanthropic project. It has tangible benefits for everyone, including the business.
