Triplett Wellman maintains a consistent goal of going the extra step to hire local subcontractors and tradespeople on every project. This can sometimes be difficult in a rural setting. With a little extra effort, we are making strides to exceed local subcontractor participation goals while also hiring High School Seniors interested in the trades. Mentorship of those interested in the trades ensures that the industry we love will remain vibrant and a desirable career option. Mockups play an important role on every construction project. Weather tightness in the Pacific Northwest is critical to a building's durability and longevity. Amity SD | An area that used to be just dirt and grass is slowly transforming into a top-of-the-line competition gym for Amity High School! Triplett Wellman Contractors has made significant progress on vertical framing and the walls of the gym are now visible from many locations on campus. I am delighted to share this recent Building Design & Construction - BDC post of River Grove Elementary School in Lake Oswego, Oregon. This innovative school is designed to be fully electric and resilient to natural disasters like seismic events, storms, and wildfires. The approximately 78,000 sq. ft. school features a cutting-edge microgrid that can operate independently from the area’s electric grid. A significant collaborative effort that went into designing this system, involving the school district and the local utility provider. River Grove addresses critical environmental challenges. With a sophisticated heating, cooling, and ventilation system, it's well-equipped to handle soaring temperatures during heatwaves and cope with smoke-filled air from forest fires or ice storms that cause prolonged power disruptions. The new school replaces a 1967 elementary school on the same site and has a capacity of 600 students. Construction commenced in June 2022, and the school's grand opening is set for Fall 2024. We're grateful for the vision of Lake Oswego School District 7J and our project team, Glumac, KPFF Consulting Engineers, and Triplett Wellman, Inc. for their dedication to sustainability. ASD | Progress is evident at the Amity Middle School classroom addition as walls and ceilings are constructed and the classrooms have begun to take shape! This week included an exciting milestone for representatives of Amity School District as they were given the opportunity to enter the new addition and see some of the progress in person. This walk through also included a "box walk", which allows the end users to see where electrical and low voltage junction boxes will be placed in the walls once construction is complete and allows them to provide input on if they think boxes should be moved or even if more need to be added. This is a critical step in ensuring the end users (teachers, staff, and students) have spaces that are not only beautiful, but functional as well!
