Tripleseat is a catering and event management web-based platform for restaurants, hotels, and unique venues that will increase sales and streamline the booking process. It is the first web-based system created by restaurant event planners for restaurant event planners. Tripleseat captures leads through the venue’s website and Facebook page and automatically uses that information to populate everything to facilitate the event manager’s job. It just takes a few clicks and it will build the client database tracking their history of bookings, generate all the documents needed at once, and change them all simultaneously, while also popping the information onto a web accessible calendar which displays it to be accessed anytime, anywhere Tripleseat has taken the restaurant business by storm, providing solutions and simplifying the event process from start to finish.

    Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away, which means that restaurants are in an important time period to promote their Thanksgiving packages to push catering sales. As corporate groups, families, and friends make their Thanksgiving plans, restaurants need to make themselves top of mind through memorable marketing promotions. We have been following along with the creative Thanksgiving promotions our Tripleseat customers have been sharing across email and social media, directing customers to learn more about their menus and place orders through a TripleseatDirect booking form. If you are unfamiliar, TripleseatDirect is incredibly popular for efficiently capturing and managing catering orders. The direct booking form lets customers select the order for pick-up or delivery, the pick-up date, the number of guests, and the menu items, and then pay for the order all in a few clicks. Here are a few promotions from our Tripleseat customers that stand out to us: 1. Easy Entertaining Inc., located in Providence, is offering a full Thanksgiving menu with all the fixings, plus an added give-back initiative. When visiting their website or Instagram page, you can place an order for a Thanksgiving dinner via the TripleseatDirect booking form. The Easy Entertaining Thanksgiving menus can accommodate corporate groups for an early Thanksgiving office luncheon or families and friends for Thanksgiving dinner. Additionally, Easy Entertaining gives the option to sponsor a single meal or a bundle of plates in partnership with Amos House to help feed those in shelters across Rhode Island. 2. Rodney Scott's BBQ is offering Thanksgiving catering with a barbecue twist at its locations across Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama. Guests can pre-order a turkey, dessert, and classic sides like baked beans, mac & cheese, sweet potato casserole, and green bean casserole through a TripleseatDirect booking form. Rodney Scott's BBQ does a fantastic job making the booking process simple for guests by putting the booking form on the website homepage and the Linktree in their Instagram bio. 3. Maggiano's Little Italy is offering a Thanksgiving carryout bundle for guests to pick up in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. The menu consists of classic Maggiano's favorites along with seasonal surprises. Maggiano's has also been celebrating fall with a limited-time menu of fall dishes called "Fall Features," which will be available from now through the week after Thanksgiving. The menu includes dishes with classic fall flavors, like butternut squash ravioli and pumpkin praline cheesecake and can be enjoyed from any Maggiano's location.     Have you ever had a guest confused about the difference between a service fee and a gratuity? Those unfamiliar with the hospitality industry may not understand how gratuities and service fees work at your venue, including where the money is going and why it is going there. To maintain transparency about event pricing, avoid any friction, and ensure your staff is taken care of, it could be smart to courteously educate your guests on the difference during the booking process. Let's start by defining the two terms. A service fee or charge is an additional fee imposed by a restaurant or event venue to cover the cost of providing certain services. A service fee could offset expenses like the setup or breakdown of the space, venue maintenance, or additional labor costs. The service fee is usually expressed as a percentage of the total bill but is not typically distributed to staff as a tip, although this can vary by venue. A gratuity or tip is a voluntary or automatic payment given specifically to the staff as a reward for their service during the event. It is typically used to recognize servers, bartenders, event coordinators, and other staff who contribute to the guest experience. Gratuity, unlike a service charge, is meant to go directly to the individuals who provided the service. In the case of large events, gratuity is often automatically added at around 15-20% to ensure that staff are properly compensated. As the restaurant industry moves toward equitable wages for all employees, many restaurateurs are adopting service charges as a way to support their staff while maintaining profitability. Instead of raising event menu prices, some restaurant owners are combating inflation and rising operational costs by adding service fees. Others are using these charges to be able to provide their staff higher wages and employee benefits. What are some best practices for communicating service fees vs gratuity when expressing event pricing? 1. Be upfront with event pricing from the start and outline the gratuity and service fees in any initial quotes and proposals so guests can make informed decisions about their budget. 2. Clearly outline the service fees in the breakdown of all costs when writing out contracts so that the information is provided in writing. 3. Give a brief and courteous explanation about the difference between the charges if the guest does not seem to be sure. 4. Train staff on how to explain and point out the two different charges on the final bill when the event host is closing out. We have more insights where these came from.
