Our final award announcement! 2024 Corporate Partner of the Year: Androscoggin Bank! The team at Androscoggin has been a huge supporter of our work. They unload and stock our Soup Kitchen’s quarterly food shipments, fix the computers in our jobs center, donated a tent for our outdoor Food Pantry distributions, and they even dress up in costume and help us hand out candy on Halloween! Thank you Androscoggin! ??

关于我们
The Trinity Jubilee Center is a non-religious organization located in the heart of downtown Lewiston, Maine. The Center's five programs, the Meals Program, Food Pantry, Day Shelter, Resource Center, and Refugee Integration Program, serve more than 1,000 people every week. The Jubilee Center believes in comprehensive support and is dedicated to helping people survive difficult situations and build a strong future. At the Center people can receive the food and shelter they need to meet their immediate, desperate needs. They can also receive help writing their resume and applying for jobs, see a doctor, and attend a community workshop as they work to improve their situation. Real, sustainable change is possible through addressing both short-term and long-term needs: providing healthy food and helping people to overcome the causes and effects of their hunger.

Introducing our 2024 Volunteer of the Year! For years Tim has helped in our Soup Kitchen and during the holidays he and his wife help to organize our toy distribution. Tim comes in smiling and makes silly jokes to keep people laughing while working. He helps wherever necessary, takes pride in his work, and when he has time, asks other volunteers to teach him words in their languages. Thank you for everything Tim! One final award announcement next week!

Meet our 2024 Partner Agency of the Year: the Andwell Health Partners Community Care Team! Hundreds of people come to our Day Shelter for meals, toiletries, socks, coats and blankets, use of our phone and mailing address, and help applying for jobs. These case managers come in multiple days a week to provide our guests with mental health support and help finding housing. They bring comfort and hope to many of our guests when they are feeling at their lowest. We are so grateful for our partnership with Andwell! Stay tuned for more award celebrations!

Our annual awards highlight a few of our amazing partners! First up is our Client Advocate of the Year, Project Support You! PSY is a partnership between?Lewiston Police and?Spurwink, providing crisis de-escalation, following up after overdoses, responding to behavioral health calls, and making referrals for services. Bernie visits our shelter regularly, checking in with each guest. When she’s not here she’s walking through parks and encampments checking on people. She is patient, persistent, and kind. We can always count on her to do everything she can to get people the help they need. Thank you Bernie! Stay tuned for more award celebrations!

WORKFORCE EVENT! The USDA’s Farm and Food Workers Relief Program provides one-time, $600 payments to frontline workers in USDA-approved farming and meatpacking activities during the Covid-19 pandemic. These are folks who planted and harvested crops, took care of livestock, and slaughtered and processed meat. Their hard work kept our supply chain going and we want to make sure local workers get access to these payments! In partnership with Mano en Mano we are holding an event on May 1 from 12:00-5:30PM to process applications. Eligible workplaces include Barber Foods/Tyson Foods and Bristol Seafood in Portland, Commonwealth Poultry in Gardiner, DeCoster, and Wallingford's. Please share so this reaches as many eligible workers as possible!?

Amazing news: we were awarded $2 million for our new community center! We are very, very grateful and still can't quite believe it! Thank you Senator Collins for securing the funding and Sun Journal for putting us on the front page! “In the new space we’ll be able to store and distribute more food, have more workstations for helping people with resumes and job applications, have private meeting rooms for mental health caseworkers from partner agencies, and expand the hours and services at our free medical clinic." We still have a lot of fundraising left to do. We have a donation link up on our site and we'll have more info, drawings of the new space, and more up soon! https://lnkd.in/e5gUaWc3

Thank you Donny Hinkley and Bangor Savings Bank! We can't wait to welcome you to our new facility!
As many of you know, I spent 5.5 years on the Board at Trinity Jubilee Center in various leadership roles (pushing for a new location at nearly every monthly board meeting!). It's a wonderful organization that means a lot to me and so many others - serving the unmet needs of the L/A community. I was thrilled when Bangor Savings Bank awarded a $5,000 foundation grant in 2022 to support the center, beginning our partnership. Fast forward to 2024 when TJC reached out to us as part of their capital campaign to support their new building project, scheduled to break ground later this year. Steven Stout and I were delighted to return with a check presentation for $25,000. I am so thankful to Bangor Savings Bank as well as the many other great local banks in our community, many of which have stepped up to offer their support for TJC. I can't wait to visit Erin Reed and her team in the new location

Thank you Bates College for?visiting?a?Food?Pantry & Diaper Bank distribution and writing this wonderful profile of our directors (and Bates alumni!) Erin and Kim. Here's?a?snippet: "The center now helps an average of 100 people?a?year find jobs and it annually serves?a?total of 4,000 individuals in the Lewiston area.?'Going shopping can take?a?very long time,'?she said with?a?laugh. 'In every department there is someone who we helped get?a?job. They are so excited, they want to thank you. They want to tell you about their kids.'"
