This Veteran’s Day, we are honored to spotlight Samuel Bohnstedt, District Manager, who served as a 3rd Class Petty Officer in Aviation Ordnance aboard the USS Nimitz in the United States Navy. Sam shares how his military experience has influenced his role at Trinchero Family Estates. “In the Navy, I learned to work with a team to achieve goals which transferred well to my experience at a family-owned distributor and then Trinchero. Other veterans should consider working at Trinchero Family Estates because understanding the importance of executing priorities and goals is part of the military life daily which translates to what we do in the wine industry. In both the military and TFE you work with people from many different backgrounds where you must learn to get the job done together.” Thank you for your service, Sam!

We conclude our Hispanic Heritage Month spotlights with Ramiro Reyes, our Cellar Supervisor and one of our newest team members. “In the short six months I’ve been at TFE, what I’m most proud of is the incredible team around me. They’ve shared so much knowledge and made my transition into this role a really smooth one. My biggest inspiration is my father. He came to California from Texas at the age of 12 and had to build a life on his own, working in the fields, playing music, and fixing cars. As an adult, he went to night school to properly learn English, which helped him land a job. He worked hard, learned his trade, and eventually saved enough to start his own business, which he successfully ran for 25 years. His dedication, passion, and hard work have always inspired me, as everything he did was to give us a better life. What I love most about my culture is the closeness of family, the strong bonds, tight-knit relationships—and of course, the food! My favorite dish is Chili con Carne, and it pairs perfectly with Cabernet Sauvignon."

This month, we proudly kicked off Sutter Home for Hope, celebrating 24 years of Trinchero Family Estates’ commitment to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer support. This year also marks a significant milestone as we honor 10 years of partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). To kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, employees across Trinchero came together for Wear Pink Day, a powerful reminder of our shared mission to support those affected by breast cancer. As part of our initiative, we created Hope Kits, thoughtfully tailored to provide essential resources and comfort to those affected by breast cancer. These kits are more than just practical support; they deliver a heartfelt message of love and solidarity. We recently heard from a recipient who shared how receiving a Hope Kit brought her not only tangible items but also a sense of hope during a challenging time. She described the warmth and encouragement it provided, reminding her that she was not alone in her journey. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that our efforts can uplift those facing such a difficult battle. The smiles and gratitude from recipients reaffirm the profound impact we can make together. Thank you to everyone who participated and to those who continue to champion this vital cause. Your dedication truly makes a difference!

Our next Hispanic Heritage Month spotlight is Leti Caldera, Customer Service Account Analyst. “I’ve worked for TFE for 16 years. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to become well-versed in many areas of customer service, which has led me to be promoted to Customer Service Account Analyst. I am honored to work with my wonderful team and be part of the larger TFE family. My biggest influences have been my parents, who left Mexico and brought me and my siblings to Napa Valley for better opportunities. I am most proud of my culture and traditions, which consist of many family gatherings, which of course, include a lot of good food and drinks. My favorite dish is shrimp or fish ceviche on a hot summer day, paired with a Bieler Rosé.”

For our next Hispanic Heritage Month spotlight, we are excited to hear from Juan Zapata, District Manager, on how his upbringing and heritage has shaped his career in wine. “I joined TFE in April 2023, and it has been an amazing opportunity to foster strong business relationships, which I feel proud of. Bringing my passion for wines, spirits, and the industry has allowed me to share the importance of persistence, love, and dedication with others. These three pillars were part of what my parents taught me and gave me as a gift as a kid. Becoming a certified Sommelier and a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) has been one of the most significant achievements in my career. In the first quarter of this year, I won a national incentive trip to Italy with TFE as part of the Heritage program. I’m very proud of this achievement and look forward to seeing the wineries in Italy in the next two weeks. This is confirmation for me that anything is possible. My parents are the foundation of my life and the reason I am who I am today. Coming from a different country has challenges, but it's possible to overcome them with dedication and a passion for what you do. I’m proud to carry with me the strength of our Hispanic community. I take great pride in our culture, traditions and the identity of our people. Our diversity in food makes us unique, and we can easily pair our recipes with different wines and flavors. My mother’s recipe for the traditional Ajiaco Soup from the Capital City of Bogota, combined with a Joel Gott Pinot Grigio… delicioso!! Salud!”

Our first Hispanic Heritage employee spotlight highlights Daniel Gomez, a Receiving Agent in the Operations department at our Westside Winery. Daniel takes pride in the experience and knowledge he's gained by working across various departments, including Bottling, Quality Control and now Distribution. “Many people have influenced me and helped mold me into who I am today. They have affected my character and values. However, I do think that my dad and my mom deeply influenced me. They brought my brothers and me to the USA, looking for a better future. Thanks to their dedication and hard work, I could go to school here. I am very proud that I come from Guadalajara, Jalisco, where the best mariachis and tequila are produced. I really enjoy gathering with my family and eating my mom’s recipes. It's hard to choose my favorite, but chiles rellenos are the best, which pair with Ménage a Trois Silk Red.”
