Dear Washington Legislators, we know you have to make budget cuts, but please be selective rather than require across the board cuts. Washington is already in the bottom 25th percentile in the U.S. for funding services that support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). These two parents of people with IDD paint a pragmatic case for preserving the minimal services we have now. https://lnkd.in/g9wB2BnB

Thank you to the Washington State Rehabilitation Council for creating this transition roadmap for schools and families! It can be challenging to navigate all the systems and understand how they connect. With this roadmap, folks will have a clearer path forward, ensuring a smoother transition for students.
I’m excited to share that yesterday we launched the Washington State Transition Map! The Washington State Rehabilitation Council worked collaboratively on this co-branded resource which is a succinct summary of key transition services for individuals with disabilities and their families. This resource is a one-page summary to help individuals and families learn about, compare, and connect to key transition services that students may be eligible for as they prepare to leave high school. Additionally, it serves as a valuable tool for disability support resources and agencies to establish meaningful connections with transition services to support individuals with disabilities in securing and maintaining employment. Check it out and share with your networks!
