关于我们

Established in 1990 as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization, The Tricycle Foundation is dedicated to making Buddhist teachings and practices broadly available. In 1991 the Foundation launched Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, the first magazine intended to present Buddhist perspectives to a Western readership. Tricycle soon became the leading independent journal of Buddhism in the West, where it continues to be the most inclusive and widely read vehicle for the dissemination of Buddhist views and values. Our readership includes longtime practitioners, those who are curious about Buddhism or meditation, and those who do not identify as Buddhist but value the teachings of wisdom and compassion that Buddhism has to offer. Tricycle has been recognized with the prestigious Folio Award for Best Spiritual Magazine three times, and has twice garnered the Utne Media Award. Tricycle: The Buddhist Review is a print and digital magazine dedicated to making Buddhist teachings and practices broadly available. Tricycle also offers monthly spiritual films online, podcasts with leading Buddhist voices, monthly dharma talk videos, and a variety of online courses with expert teachers. Founded in 1991, Tricycle is one of the leading sources of Buddhist perspectives in the western world. The editorial spans a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to philosophical tenets, historical analysis, contemporary issues, and cultural commentary, all seen through the lens of Buddhist teachings and practices. Tricycle's approach provides a comprehensive view of Buddhism, beyond cultural and regional boundaries. Readers can explore a plethora of teachings, from Theravada to Mahayana, Zen to Vajrayana, and beyond. • Mary MacKillop once reminded us that love remains steady, even when life feels chaotic. She found peace in love’s embrace, no matter what storms surrounded her. Her message is a quiet nudge to keep love alive in our own hearts. While it’s important to care for others and stay connected, we can’t pour from an empty cup. That’s where self-care and spiritual grounding come in—both are just as essential. Balance comes when we care for ourselves as much as we care for the world. • We’re often shaped by the world around us, taught how to think, speak, and see things a certain way. The Buddha’s teachings on right speech—speaking with truth, kindness, purpose, and timing—offer a simple but powerful guide. When we bring presence and empathy into our conversations, something shifts. Sometimes that means pausing before responding, or using nonviolent communication to get clear on what’s really going on inside. Asking yourself, “How does this affect me?” or “What matters most here?” can lead to deeper, more honest dialogue. Even one small change in how you speak can ripple out and transform the way you connect with others. • In stillness, one of the deepest journeys we can take is learning to truly relax. It sounds simple, but it’s a practice that asks for patience and consistency. Life constantly invites us to loosen our grip and move with the flow instead of against it. Welcoming each moment without resistance doesn’t mean doing nothing—it means responding with clarity, not reacting from stress. When we breathe, soften, and stay open, we meet the world with steadiness. • Your Morning Dose of Buddhist Wisdom. Daily Dharma delivered right to your inbox, 365 days a year. - Daily Dharma - The Energy Behind Everything Infinite, all-pervasive energy underlies everything—is everything. We may think we do our own thing, we may even exercise our “own” will, but our life and all things are fleeting, ever-changing expressions of this energy. - Marshall Glickman Embracing Emotion Our feelings, emotions, and experiences—good, bad, or neutral—are genuine and a part of who we are. We won’t grow, transform, and awaken by running away from them; it is by embracing who we are that we awaken. - Mark Herrick Letting Go with Grace Holding on always comes at a cost: primarily disappointment, and peripherally, exhaustion, because things are neither lasting nor dependable. Getting what we want is hard enough, but to keep what we have is impossible. - Vanessa Zuisei Goddard Start your morning off on a positive note with a quick hit of Buddhist wisdom - Subscribe to our free newsletter "Daily Dharma." • After his awakening, the Buddha had a powerful realization worth reflecting on. He didn’t claim wisdom as something only he could access—instead, he shared that every being holds an inner space of clarity and purity. Many people turn to meditation thinking they need to fix something broken within them. But the Buddha’s insight reminds us that beneath the chaos and struggle, there’s already something good and whole. It’s not about denying growth, but about recognizing the goodness that’s always been there. • Chasing happiness through external things often leaves us feeling empty and disconnected. The more we search outside ourselves, the more distant we become from who we really are. Ironically, the constant pursuit brings more restlessness than peace. Sometimes, the most powerful shift happens when we choose stillness—just noticing the urge to move, but staying put. That quiet pause brings us back to the present, where clarity and contentment start to grow. In learning to be with ourselves, we often find what we were searching for all along.
