“I raised my Gen Z kids to develop some “Gen X” attributes” Wow. That hit me?? Mohamed Adam Wee Abdullah shared this story during his presentation about The Future of Marketing – Consumers in 2030 at EGN Malaysia (Executives' Global Network) Executive Leadership 2 meeting yesterday, and it really made me pause. His kids, now graduated and thriving, learned financial independence early on. They traveled across Europe without asking for extra money, cooking healthy food at home, managing their finances and adapting to real-world challenges on their own. This raises an interesting question: Are we underestimating Gen Z’s ability to be resilient? ?? In a world where convenience is at their fingertips, do we sometimes shield them too much instead of preparing them for the realities of life? A huge thank you to Steve Abbiss for being such a great chairperson and Adam for being a wonderful speaker and chairperson at yesterday’s EGN Malaysia Executive Leadership, Kuala Lumpur 2 peer group meeting. ?? On top of his personal story with his kids Adam's deep dive into generational shifts, consumer behaviors, and how historical events shape innovation made me reflect on how we, as leaders, must constantly adapt.
