Need some motivation to #getoutside during the holidays? Challenge yourself to TLC's Hiking Challenge! ???? Explore new places and earn fun prizes by completing six hikes across six TLC nature preserves. Anyone can participate, and you can hike on your own or with friends, family, or your pup! ?? Here's what recent TLC Hiking Challenge Winner Matt Kollman had to say after completing the challenge: "I have a hard time describing the importance of TLC's mission having been born and raised in the Triangle. Initially, I understood the importance of preservation on a personal, somewhat selfish level as I watched farms where I used to pick strawberries, ride horses, or go on hay rides all get developed. As I got older I gained a broader perspective and now see the preservation of land as a public service. I believe the spaces that TLC protects are essential for maintaining and improving the physical and mental health of the people who call the Triangle home. Everyone has a right to clean air, water, land, and access to spaces where they can reconnect with the natural world. TLC helps make that possible!" ?? ??Start your #TLCHikingChallenge at https://buff.ly/3Z2If5O #trianglelandconservancy #hiketlc #trianglenc #durhamnc #chapelhillnc #raleighnc #northcarolina #visitnc

GOOD NEWS - TLC has recently protected 64-acres of pristine farmland in Johnston County! ?? Along with farmland, this property contains forest and a section of Middle Creek that supports several endangered and threatened aquatic species, including the Neuse River waterdog. This new conservation easement, added to several existing protected properties, creates an expansive 303-acre corridor of connected land that helps to protect disappearing farmland, clean water, and natural habitats. ?? ??Read how a family's legacy of love for the land and Johnston County inspired this exciting collaboration for conservation at https://buff.ly/3AGcB77 #trianglelandconservancy #landprotection #conservation #farmland #farms #johnstoncountync #trianglenc #raleighnc #durhamnc #northcarolina
