Call for volunteers! Our prestigious annual Chester Bedell Mock Trial Competition takes place Jan 24 - Jan 26, 2025, and we need jury participants! What you’ll do: You’ll sit as a scoring juror to judge the law students’ advocacy skills in each round of the competition. Time commitment: at least 4 hours; more if you’d like! Volunteering as a juror entitles you to 9 hours of CLE or Civil Trial Certification credit. There is no cost to the jurors for participation, and the level of talent of these young future lawyers is truly amazing. The Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section's inaugural Membership Retreat was a wild success--a weekend filled with networking, collaboration, and elevating the practice of law! The Retreat Committee couldn’t be happier with how attendees engaged and connected throughout the event. Our retreat themed New Starts, New Ideas: Innovations for Future Success delivered precisely the tools courtroom advocates need to advance their practice. From practical trial skills to updates in law, technology, and ethics, the sessions provided diverse, hands-on learning experiences. Attendees earned 7.5 CLE credits, including Ethics, Technology, Professionalism, and Board Certification, while learning from some of the top trial lawyers and judges in Florida. The family-friendly networking events were just as successful. The Halloween-themed Welcome Reception brought attendees and their families together for an evening of fun, complete with costumes, a Build Your Own Candy Bar, and delicious refreshments. The event closed with a spectacular Fireworks Reception at Italy Isola, followed by an unforgettable private excursion to Epcot’s Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. This retreat was an inspiring testament to the Trial Lawyers Section’s commitment to service and community.
