These family support programs help support parents in their role as a child's first teacher, but not just education and early literacy. These programs help families learn how to keep children safe and healthy, as well as how to support their optimal development: *Early Head Start* helps families of children 0-3 meet personal goals and move toward self-sufficiency. *Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY)* supports parents to prepare their 2-, 3-, and 4-year-old children for success in school and beyond. *Parents As Teachers (PAT)* offers home visits with parent educators and opportunities to connect with other families. *Nurse-Family Partnership* provides nurse home visitation for first-time moms during pregnancy and up to a child’s second birthday, focused on maternal-child health and child development. *SafeCare* supports families in parenting skills, including keeping children safe and healthy and how to increase positive behaviors and prevent difficult behaviors. *Recovery Nurse Advocate* offers care from a Registered Nurse (RN) for people with substance abuse during pregnancy and for one year post-partum.
