Opening Announcement – Hair Fatigue Testing Symposium ?? Over the past decade, Single Fiber Fatigue Testing has become the hottest new testing technique in our industry. The reason appears two-fold. On the one hand, this methodology often yields substantially larger differences between samples, in terms of breakage tendences, than those obtained by traditional tensile testing. But also, this approach highlights the sizable contribution of previously unrecognized factors and considerations to the breakage process – which, in turn, suggest potential new strategies for curtailing this occurrence. To this end, it is already possible to see fatigue data being used in product and ingredient claims communications. On Thursday 15th?May 2025 TRI will host a Symposium on the Fatigue Testing of Hair.?This event, running directly after the TRI Fundamentals of Hair Science and Claims Course?(13-14 May), will be a hybrid event.?A very limited number of places are available to join the symposium live at TRI.?There are, of course, unlimited paces on-line, and the event will be streamed live, and on playback as usual. Exploring Hair Strength: TRI’s Fatigue Testing Symposium TRI, in collaboration with Dia-Stron, will host a Hair Fatigue Testing Symposium on May 15, 2025. This event follows the TRI Fundamentals of Hair Science and Claims Course and will be held as a hybrid event. While in-person attendance at TRI is limited, online participation is unlimited, with live streaming and playback available. The symposium will focus on fatigue testing techniques used to assess hair resistance to breakage. 2?? Exciting Internship Opportunities at TRI Princeton TRI Princeton is offering fully paid, on-site, and online internships to students in the US and worldwide. Daniel Strzeszewski, a TRI intern from St. John's University, will present a poster on hair fiber aging at the 11th International Conference on Applied Hair Science in June 2024. Students interested in Summer 2024 internships must submit their applications before the end of February. 3?? New Study on Hair Moisture Absorption Published Trefor Evans, from TRI Princeton, along with Steven Breakspear, Crisan Popescu and co-workers from Kao Corporation have published a study analyzing the kinetics of water sorption in hair using the Dynamic Vapour Sorption (DVS) technique. The research examines how bleaching and heat treatments impact hair’s moisture absorption properties.
