The Tres Birds team volunteered last Saturday to plant Ponderosa pine seedlings at the location of the 2020 Cameron Peak Fire, Colorado's largest forest fire, which burned nearly 210,000 acres. The Nature Conservancy assisted in identifying appropriate areas where trees are projected to thrive amidst various climate change scenarios. The seedlings were cultivated from seeds collected on-site and nurtured over the past year at a nursery. Despite a chilly start to the day, a total of 777 trees were successfully planted. This reforestation effort not only aims to restore the landscape but also contributes to the resilience of the ecosystem in the face of changing environmental conditions. The collaborative effort of the Tres Birds team and Wildland Restoration volunteers exemplifies a commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. #CameronPeakfire2020 #ArapahoNationalForest #RooseveltNationalForest #WildlandsRestorationVolunteers #CoalitionforthePoudreRiverWatershed
