A wonderful celebration of service, community impact, and California Volunteer engagement. Thank you for having our Climate Corps Fellows at this event! Our TSD team and fellows had a blast planting trees, educating fellows about the benefits of our expanding urban forest, and demonstrating new and innovative ways to collect forestry data in the field! https://lnkd.in/gBSCr832

Special Projects Coordinator | Connecting California Service Corps members statewide

Last weekend, we brought together over 100 service members in San Diego for the latest California Service Corps Connections event—a day filled with learning, collaboration, and hands-on impact. ??? From insightful workshops to rewarding service projects, the energy at the event was incredible. It was invigorating to witness members engage with one another in conversation and service - sharing their experiences, learning together, and fostering new connections. And of course, no San Diego gathering is complete without amazing food, so we wrapped up the day over delicious enchiladas and burritos from?a local restaurant. Events like these don’t happen without a strong network of support. I am extremely grateful for California Volunteers, Office of the Governor for entrusting us in this partnership & Josh Fryday for his presence at the event and continued leadership. A huge thank you to?Chollas-Mead Elementary (Tom, Martin, Jerry, Karina, and Vice Principal Zarkoski) for welcoming us, to the?San Diego Regional Planning Committee - Monica and Jennifer from PASS AmeriCorps, Elektra F. from Tree San Diego, Diana and Christopher from Notre Dame Mission Volunteers and Vinny from USD College Corps - for shaping this experience, and to our?workshop facilitators—Mandy, Brittany, Briana, Ophelia, Melissa, and Jessica—for leading meaningful discussions. To the?Stockton Service Corps team, volunteers, and behind-the-scenes champions?who made the day run smoothly, we see you and appreciate you! With every gathering, the?California Service Corps?community grows stronger and more connected. Excited for what’s next as we continue bringing members across service programs together statewide! #CaliforniaServiceCorps #SanDiego #StrongerTogether #ServiceInAction #CommunityImpact Omar, Kimberly Reigne, Maria, Maurice, Sabrena, Brittany, Dayaneira, Richley, Mila, Kylie, Dontá, Manny, Sami, Jorgie, Tessa, Suzanne, Esmeralda, Alex, Jeremy, Amy, Austin, Felipe, Ethan, Keegen, Nicholas, Sofia, Dianne, Kathleen, Alyson, Hanna

Thank you, San Diego Jewish Journal, for highlighting the important work our team and partners do to expand and care for the region's urban forest! "Tree San Diego is focused on the future and has created a model for their long-term success. Fike-Data [Executive Director] explained, 'With more than 90% of our projects serving underinvested communities, TSD is committed to prioritizing equitable access to green space and expanded tree canopy, which has countless environmental, social and economic benefits over time. Our TSD team has built a holistic approach to long-term urban greening; we call it the People-Plan-Plant model, which aims to bring balance to program design and implementation, ensuring equal access to environmental resources and workforce training while also providing space for all voices and groups during the planning stage for any public project.'" ?? WHAT A MILESTONE ?? This month, in celebration of our 10th anniversary, TSD planted our 10,000th tree! This marked a moment of achievement, gratitude, and reflection, as well as our appreciation for all things TREES, what they do, and how we show up for them. While our mission began with planting the first of many trees, it took support from our community, donors, and partners to reach the 10,000th. Read more about how TSD and the trees we planted -grew- over the past decade here: https://lnkd.in/gF3j-a7Y Thank you to the City of La Mesa for welcoming this ceremonial planting and for your partnership -- and a big thank you to City Manager Greg Humora and CAP Manager Hilary Ego for continuing to advocate for more trees in urban neighborhoods! Stay tuned for highlights of our 10th Anniversary & Awards Celebration where our new initiative, "The Next 10000," was launched! #trees #community #nonprofits #charity #urbanforests #partnership
