#Spring has sprung! Time to enjoy the changing seasons, get outside, and appreciate what nature has to offer. Spring is also a great time to assess tree health before severe weather moves in. ?? Take a good look at the trees on your property. Inspect, prune, repair - and make sure your irrigation system is still working. If you don't have one, make a watering schedule to keep those trees hydrated. And, be sure to mulch those trees to conserve water and protect them from soil erosion. ?????? A little planning now goes a long way in protecting your trees throughout the year. #TreeMannSolutions | #HappySpring | #Planning | #TreeCare | #TexasTrees | #TreePreservation | #SpringEquinox | #SaveTimeSaveMoneySaveTrees

TMS is a Texas-based green industry consulting firm that provides real estate development, design, and property management professionals with planning, permitting, and tree preservation solutions - specifically in ways that generate time and money savings/earnings compared to the status quo: Tree Surveys - actually by an arborist that gets identification right, measures precisely per local code to reduce yield and cost constraints, and provides condition assessments (health/structure)to help determine whether a tree is worth saving (or paying removal fees for if removing) Early Constraint/Feasibility studies - how many big trees, what can/can't I cut down, what's it cost to do so from a time/money standpoint (how does that overall impact yields, expectations, and price offering) Design Consulting - I want to or am being forced to save this tree - what do regulations or best practices say about how close I can get, how many roots/branches to cut, how I should document it Entitlement Consulting - what do rules say about trees, how much documentation do I need, at what time, in what form, to which person, and how to do that while saving time and money Preservation - accurately budget and manage tree preservation with a quality team to save trees well and cost-effectively so they look great when you're done building - we don't do this work full time and have no pressure to sell you what you don't need. We bring a one stop solution to carry through from planning and permitting to make sure we all didn't waste a bunch of time in design/entitlement before site work team and/or other subs tear up trees you want/need to save). Property management - what trees do I have, what risk and benefits do they present, how should I manage and care for them while maintaining the property, building(s), and a reasonable budget? We help answer these questions and more, and then deliver exceptional service at great value with quality teammates

The planting season is upon us, and whether you're selecting trees for your home or in a new development site, there's one word you need to keep in mind: Biodiversity. The more biodiverse an #ecosystem is, the healthier and more resilient it is to any environmental or biotic stressors. ?? The same goes for the urban forest we live in. To increase the likelihood that there will be a thriving urban forest for decades to come, we need to be mindful when selecting trees for planting. ?? Myles Cooley has some tips to keep in mind to help you increase your #biodiversity. #TreeMannSolutions | #Arboriculture | #Biodiversity | #Planning | #Permitting | #Preservation | #TexasTrees | #UrbanForest | #SpringPlanting

As the weather warms up in Texas, it's important to keep an eye out for one of nature's more infamous plants: poison ivy. While it may look harmless, those large, glossy leaves?can cause serious skin reactions. Knowing how to properly identify poison ivy is key to avoiding the rash it’s known for. The leaves, which can range in size and shape, typically appear in clusters of three, but they can vary from plant to plant. ?? What to look for: - Leaves in clusters of three. You may have heard the saying:?"leaves of three, let it be." - Shiny, smooth, or slightly jagged edges. - Reddish stems, especially in younger plants. Heading into #spring, take extra caution when hiking, working outdoors, or enjoying nature. If you’re unsure about what you’re seeing, it’s always best to err on the side of caution and avoid contact. Stay safe, and make sure you know how to spot this plant before it spots you! ?? #TreeMannSolutions | #PlantIdentification | #PoisonIvy |#SpringSeason |

As folks who spend a lot of time assessing trees, we pay close attention to the signs of distress. This sloughing bark we saw recently occurs when large sections of bark begin to peel away from the tree and can be an indicator of a pest problem.??? When combined with small holes, sawdust-like material around the affected area, or tunnels like in this tree, it's often a red flag for borer infestation. When these insects tunnel beneath the bark, they disrupt the tree's vascular system. As a result, the tree sheds the damaged bark in an attempt to heal and defend itself. Is there anything that can be done to help? ? Inspect trees regularly for visible signs of damage. ? Treat infestations early to minimize harm. ? Consult with an arborist to determine the best course of action. If this 10" tree we saw in Leander had to be removed, it would have cost $150 per inch - that's $1,500 just for one tree! When you multiply that by the number of trees that might have to be removed or replaced on a site, you can see how these costs can quickly skyrocket. Take early action and address potential problems sooner rather than later - that's how we save time, money, and trees. ? ?? ?? #TreeMannSolutions | #SaveTimeSaveMoneySaveTrees | #TreePreservation | #TreeCare | #TreeTips | #Arboriculture | #TexasTrees

All right - let's hear your guesses! Any idea what critter was responsible for the damage to this young tree? ?? Leave your best (or most creative) guess in the comments, and we'll let you know who the culprit was. We always say trees and turf don't get along, and this picture shows you why. Without proper mulching, root growth can suffer significantly. The mulch acts as a buffer, shielding tree roots from extreme temperatures, locking in moisture, and suppressing weeds to promote healthy root growth. Plus, once the mulch decomposes, it adds organic matter into the soil, which helps improve the structure. ?? Planting a new tree? ?? Be sure you're mulching! Show your trees some love by keeping these tips from the pros in mind: - Use organic materials like compost or wood chips - Apply mulch at a depth of 2-4 inches - Leave at least 6 inches of space between the mulch and the trunk #TreeMannSolutions | #RootProtection | #Mulching | #TreePreservation | #HealthyTrees |#Arboriculture | #TreeTips | #TreeLovers | #SaveTimeSaveMoneySaveTrees

Notice anything wrong with this picture? ?? You might remember when we recently shared some information about the Critical Root Zone and why that area of the root system?is important. Here's a good example of what NOT to do.??? The tree protection zone has been infringed upon and equipment stored within the tree’s Critical Root Zone (CRZ). As a result,?soil has been compacted and roots possibly damaged. Don’t take your trees for granted during construction.?Be sure you're protecting the CRZ with fencing so that construction impacts don't encroach, using mulch and trunk armor in tandem with fencing, or where fencing is not feasible,?and having a certified arborist monitoring impacts and tree health throughout the project.??? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. #TreeMannSolutions | #CriticalRootZone | #RootDamage | #CertifiedArborist | #Arboriculture | #TreeCare?| #SiteMonitoring

How's that for resilience? ?? One thing we really love about trees is that despite the challenges they face—harsh weather, limited space, or competition—they find a way to keep on growing. This tree within a tree reminds us to keep pushing, be adaptable, and always look for the light! #TreeMannSolutions | #FieldPhoto | #TexasTrees | #LiveOak | #Arboriculture
