As we all come to grips with the changes we're facing in 2025, there's one thing that has not changed at all: the urgent need to continue to fight the climate crisis. I had the honor to spend some time with GBH's Dave Epstein in Boston to discuss carbon capture, American manufacturing, how far we've come with climate technology (including at Travertine), and the cost of doing nothing. I'm not an economist, but I'm certain we can't afford the enormous human and economic cost of burning every last drop of oil. If anyone on the Editorial board of the The Wall Street Journal wants to debate this, you know who to call! https://lnkd.in/get_jvDe

Thank you Carbon Removal Alliance for helping get this bipartisan bill introduced!
Today, we were proud to work with U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) to introduce important bipartisan legislation to stimulate the carbon removal market in the United States. The Carbon Dioxide Removal Investment Act would update existing tax code to right-size it to the current industry, where innovative American companies are using a variety of methods to permanently remove carbon dioxide pollution. Currently, too many carbon removal companies are unable to access tax incentives because their specific technology is not reflected in the tax code. That's why lawmakers and businesses across the United States are calling for this critical update to support the full spectrum of carbon removal tools in our toolbox. “This tax credit for carbon removal will allow innovative American companies working to permanently remove carbon pollution from our atmosphere to access critical incentives that can power their work — in turn unlocking climate benefits, economic growth, and in-demand jobs across the country,” said CRA Executive Director Giana Amador on the bill’s introduction. We’re so grateful to Senators Bennet and Murkowski and all of our partners who helped make this happen. Let’s do this! https://lnkd.in/efWV6jfV

We are thrilled to announce a partnership with Sabin Metal Corporation to deploy our first field demonstration plant at Sabin’s facility in Scottsville, New York. The plant will convert previously mined gypsum that has been stacked on their site for decades and carbon dioxide (CO2) that we capture from the air into three useful products: sulfuric acid, green hydrogen, and calcium carbonate. Sabin will purchase the sulfuric acid to use in their precious metals recycling and refinery operation. The green hydrogen will be quantified and evaluated for future use in the Sabin refinery, and the calcium carbonate will be both a permanent store of carbon dioxide and tested for use as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM). We are grateful to have support for this full-value project from NYSERDA and Builders Vision. Read more about the project below! https://lnkd.in/gZQd44qd

At Travertine our mission is to enable permanent carbon removal and eliminate chemical waste from massive industries. Doing that well requires experts who are field-tested and motivated to turn the dream of a more sustainable future into reality. Today we are thrilled to welcome Chris Komlos as our Director of Process Engineering, whose past experience ranges from designing, constructing, and operating Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) pilots in the remote Atacama Desert to engineering to designing and operating one of the world’s largest Bi-Polar Membrane Electrodialysis (BPMED) systems for commercial wastewater-to-value. Chris is excited to lead Travertine's talented team of engineers and scientists through our next phase of scaleup and growth. Welcome, Chris, we’re grateful to have you! #climatetech #CDR #sustainability And, we are hiring! https://lnkd.in/dg9pFqQ2
