Travel Tech recently came across a benchmark study on the reservation response performance of 50 EMEA hotel chains, developed by Asksuite. After reading it, one question stuck with our team: why are so many hotels still underusing specialized tech tools to improve customer service and boost revenue? ??Key finding: 60% of hotels completely fail to reply to price-quote emails. Imagine how much revenue is being left on the table. Why does this happen? Common reasons include: overloaded staff, a lack of an omnichannel response platform, or simply overlooked emails. And it doesn’t stop there… More astonishing findings: - Every hotel chain analyzed took more than 24 hours to respond to website quote requests. - Only 20% of hotels use WhatsApp, even though it enables faster responses. - Nearly half of social media inquiries go unanswered. This inconsistency raises a critical issue: customer service seems efficient on some channels but unreliable on others. All traveler-facing channels should be top priority, right? What’s another missed opportunity? Follow-ups. A simple, well-timed follow-up can turn an inquiry into a confirmed reservation, yet all hotels failed to do so in this study. ?? The good news?
