Hats off to our team for getting another much-loved tifgroup brand live again. It took a monumental team effort and brilliant support from Capacity Insights to make sure everything was ship-shape and ready to go. The result is TopDog Insurance, one of the brands we had to pause during Covid. It offers cover for more than 100 activities, medical cover up to £5 million and cancellation cover up to £5,000. A particularly interesting feature is for independent travel, where each insured traveller on an Annual Multi Trip policy can travel independently, making it ideal for families or groups with separate itineraries. Congratulations to everyone on the team! There’s plenty more to come this year so watch this space! #travelinsurance #travel #teamwork

Rebecca K.'s lovely post highlights one of the many reasons we have such a great team at tifgroup!

Becoming a parent shifts your priorities in ways you never expect. It’s such a relief to work for a company that not only understands this change but also actively accommodates it - especially when you’re navigating it solo, like I am. On a lighter note, with all these visits to the office, I think it might be time for my little lady to get her own desk! ?? #WorkLifeBalance #Parenthood #FlexibleWork #Grateful #CareerJourney

David Allison talks a lot of sense in his post which once again demonstrates how people can misunderstand the role of travel insurance and the responsibilities of travel companies, such as airlines and tour operators when things go wrong. It highlights one of the challenges travel insurers face in trying to help customers better understand what it is they’re buying. Education has always been at the heart of tifgroup’s mission and will continue to be so. #travelinsurance #travel?

Bringing colour to insurance compliance! Championing brokers and MGAs and offering them solutions, not regulatory roadblocks.

"Extent of hollowing out of travel insurance uncovered" according to an article in Insurance Post yesterday. https://lnkd.in/eNqGyJpA As a supporter of the UK travel insurance sector, which plays a vital part in our global economy, I'm not happy about this headline. It's suggesting a 'sneaky' reduction in the value of travel insurance - 'hollowing out' - when in fact the opposite is true! The article quotes Defaqto reporting that 52% of travel policies written 5 years ago included Scheduled Airline Failure cover as standard, but in 2024 only 12% of travel policies cover it, yet consumer demand for the cover increased during that period. Defaqto also looked at Financial Failure cover, which provides cover for travel packages if a provider goes bust - apparently only 14% of policies provide this cover as standard in 2024, but 5% offer it as an optional extra. Those are facts. But headlining this as 'hollowing out' is misleading and sensationalist. The main provider of this type of cover, which was often embedded into other providers' travel insurance products (at a cost, obviously), withdrew the facility after the FCA's 'Fair Value' rules came out. Hmmm...wonder why? I'd love to see the stats on claims-to-premium ratio for the last decade! However Scheduled Airline Failure isn't listed in the FCA's 'Value Measures Data' tables for 2021, 2022 or 2023, so that data isn't readily available to the public. BUT here's the thing...we have protections in place for travellers through ATOL (and ABTA) for when things go wrong, that insurance doesn't NEED to cover. So why pay for insurance for something that you are unlikely to be able to ever claim on? Isn't that EXACTLY what the FCA 'Fair Value' rules were designed to address? You shouldn't need to even touch your travel insurance if your airline or holiday provider goes bust. Most arrangements are ATOL-protected ensuring, in their own words, that "consumers are not stranded abroad or do not lose money paid to the travel organiser for holidays and flights." So you don't need insurance for that. Even if you buy a flight only, not in a package with accommodation (which I have done myself this year), as long as you pay by credit card then you can make a 'Section 75' claim directly to your credit card provider if the airline goes bust, and the card provider is legally obliged to reimburse you. So you don't need insurance for that. Even if you pay for a flight by DEBIT card, you can make a 'Chargeback' claim to your card provider if the airline goes bust. The rules are slightly different to credit cards, with a 120-day time limit to claim from the time of purchase, but Visa and Mastercard have both confirmed that in the case of airline tickets, the 120 day time limit begins once you were due to get on the flight. So you don't need insurance for that. We just need to educate consumers properly (in fairness, Defaqto did mention that).

The tifgroup team are still buzzing after Insurancewith picked up the title of Best Travel Insurance Provider at the Insurance Choice Awards 2024 earlier this month. Naturally we're incredibly proud and thrilled about winning this prestigious award. And what is particularly satisfying is not only that we have been recognised for the work we do to help people with pre-exisiting conditions find affordable travel insurance - but also the award was voted for by our customers. A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and show their support — we wouldn’t be here without you! The trust and loyalty of our customers means everything to us. Here’s to more adventures together! #InsuranceChoiceAwards #InsuranceChoiceAwards2024 #ICA2024 #TravelInsurance

Our Mumbai team do a fantastic job looking after our customers and the time our UK team spend with them is invaluable in understanding ways we can support and learn from them. Recently our MD Richard Smith, along with Sarah Tucker, Sarah Adams and Jake Crossley had a busy week in the office with the team, delivering one of our legendary #tifgrouptalks, handing out well-deserved awards and joining their summer party. They came away with loads of ideas as to how we can bring both teams together to work more closely. But there was unanimous agreement that the highlight of the week was a visit to see Errol Corda's Little Stars - a group of Mumbai street children he works for tirelessly, raising money and donations to give them shelter and an education. They went with the girls to see the Ganesh Idol in Errol’s?neighbourhood. Ganesh Chaturthi is a deeply significant festival in Maharashtra and the celebration transforms the entire region with beautiful lights and large Ganesh Idols A big thank you to Errol and the Mumbai team for such a memorable week.

??? #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth??? Here at tifgroup, we are showing our support! Breast cancer remains one of the leading killers of women of working age worldwide and with cancer rates on the rise, 1 in 2 women will be diagnosed in their lifetime so please consider helping a group of incurable breast cancer patients in the fight for their lives. Two years ago, a new drug called #Enhertu was announced at the #SanAntonio Oncology Conference, receiving a standing ovation. It was hailed as a game-changer, one of a new set of drugs that could extend life and significantly combat the disease. But one year ago, NICE and the NHS rejected it for patients in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Even after AstraZeneca and Daiichi Sankyo Europe GmbH reduced the price, and with the drug available in Scotland and over 24 other countries, on 29th July, NICE published their final guidance not to recommend Enhertu for use on the NHS. Then two weeks ago, they confirmed they wouldn’t review the decision for another two years. Why? A new severity modifier algorithm now downgrades the severity of this terminal disease, classifying it as “moderately severe.” On top of that, NICE claims the UK public doesn’t see extending the lives of patients as "good value for money." The rationale? They’re going to die anyway, so why pay to keep them alive longer??Most of them will die whilst waiting for the review. So, what can you do? This week, around 30 women, #metastaticbreastcancer patients launched a campaign to raise £150k to take legal action against NICE - National Institute for Health and Care Excellence for discrimination. They didn’t see any other options left.?They have just 3 days to raise the money to hit a deadline. This is how they are spending their last years—fighting for their right to live. Not just for breast cancer patients, but because this decision sets a dangerous precedent for other Stage 4 cancer treatments. At a time when new drugs could turn cancer from terminal to chronic, this is a battle that impacts us all. Time is running out. You can join us by joining the #showyoursupport (.)(.) challenge and stand with the thousands of people being denied the life extending drug Enhertu for stage 4 breast cancer. Here’s what to do: *Whip off your bra and show them ‘your support’ as quick as you can! Fellas you can join too! *Donate to their crowdfund page to make this happen. https://lnkd.in/emQEN_4d *Tag your breast mates #enhertunow #showyoursupport #funnyvideo #girlsnightin #nostalgia #crowdfund #breastcancersupport #funnychallenge #challenge Please share and go to their fundraising page https://lnkd.in/eGTitUKi
