TVS is a social enterprise dedicated to the employment & empowerment of individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Our Manufacturing & Packaging business unit specializes in the blending and packaging of dry food and beverage products and dietary supplements. Our Programs & Services business unit offers day and residential programs for adults with disabilities, as well as offers employment evaluation/training/placement to individuals in various stages of vocational rehabilitation. Founded in 1967, our mission is to provide quality employment, job training and residential & community services to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. In support of this, TVS established a food manufacturing facility in 2001 to offer a consistent source of job opportunities. Since then, TVS has produced more than 200 million pounds of dry food and beverage products for the U.S. government alone and has served dozens of commercial customers in the food and dietary supplements industries. The support services arm of TVS helps adults with disabilities find and retain meaningful employment, within and outside of TVS, and positively engage with the community. TVS employs 150 people at its 65,000 sq. ft. facility in Brevard, where it earned the Brevard/Transylvania Chamber of Commerce’s 2016 Business of the Year award. As National Disability Employment Awareness Month comes to close, I want to take a moment to recognize just a few of the many Members of Congress who took the time to support SourceAmerica and the nonprofits and employees within its network during the Fall SourceAmerica Grassroots Advocacy Conference. Congressman Van Orden (R-WI) has been a consistently strong supporter of opportunities for individuals with disabilities and took the time to chat with TVS/Transylvania Vocational Services about the powdered milk from a dairy in Wisconsin that is then processed by TVS in North Carolina. Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has been spearheading a push to increase the number of AbilityOne products sold in the House Office Buildings’ supply store. Congressman Richard Hudson (R-NC) recently became an AbilityOne Champion for his support of AbilityOne employees at Fort Liberty. No discussion of Members of Congress and #NDEAM is complete without Congressman Tony Coelho (Ret./D-CA), who was the original Congressional Sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). #NDEAM #employment #opportunity #jobs #thankyou

Our Employee Spotlight shines light on TVS Level III Material Handler James Rigsby! James, aka Jamie, recently celebrated his 10th anniversary at TVS! Over the years, he has gained experience and grown in his career at TVS. Daily, Jamie is driving between warehouses and TVS delivering raw material and finished goods. He is hands on, always working to load and unload his truck. Jamie is considered a friend, a 'three amigo', and is a large part of the warehouse team family. ? You can find him dressing up at Halloween, frying a turkey at Thanksgiving, and always being ready to jump in and help - even while on vacation. When not working, Jamie is jamming out to George Strait at Lake Keowee with his wife, Cheryl, and their Yorkie Daisy. ?? ?? Thank you, Jamie, for 10 years of dedicated work.
