French shipping and logistics company CMA CGM Group?announced?a four-year, $20 billion investment in the U.S. maritime economy and supply chain. CMA CGM CEO and Chairman Rodolphe Saadé said the funds will help the company grow its U.S.-flagged fleet, increase container port capacity, build and expand 400 warehouses, establish an air cargo hub, and create 10,000 jobs. The company — which owns American President Lines—plans to expand the U.S. flag carrier’s capacity and bolster maritime resources through investments in new technologies, jobs, and skills. Key sites—including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston, and Dutch Harbor, Alaska—will develop their infrastructure. CMA CGM said these investments would enhance supply chains and operational efficiency, accelerate digitization, improve connectivity, and increase cargo and port worker safety. CMA CGM also intends to set up an air cargo hub in Chicago with five Boeing 777 freighters and launch a logistics research and development hub in Boston focusing on advanced automation and robotics solutions. CMA CGM employs around 15,000 Americans across 40 states. The company also transports more than 5 million shipping containers to and from the U.S. annually.

Solar Paint Could Provide Nearly 7,500 Miles of Driving Range Annually! According to Mercedes, the solar modules measure five micrometers wide, weigh about .01 pounds per square foot, and feature solar cells that achieve 20% efficiency. The company added that an area of approximately 118 square feet — about the size of a mid-size SUV’s surface — could generate enough energy to support up to 7,400 miles annually. Mercedes reported that the permanently active photovoltaic system produces energy while the vehicle is off, which could improve electric range and reduce charging stops. The range depends on shade levels, sun intensity, and geographic location. The automaker estimated that solar energy could cover about 62% of the 32 miles driven daily by Mercedes owners in Stuttgart, Germany. However, in Los Angeles, due to a surplus of solar radiation, solar energy could cover 100% of driving distance on average.
