Big News! The Arc Lexington is proud to be among the 12 workforce development awardees selected for funding through the Mohawk Valley Empowers program! With this $977,000 grant, our Transitions Program will partner with SUNY FMCC and SUNY Cobleskill to expand career training opportunities for young adults with learning differences. Through this initiative, we are launching new microcredential programs that will provide industry-relevant training, soft skills development, and hands-on work experience empowering young adults with disabilities to enter the workforce and build independent, fulfilling lives.?A key part of this expansion is strengthening our business partnerships, ensuring that students have access to job-related internships and hands-on training in real work environments. This investment recognizes the impact of inclusive workforce development and the importance of providing young adults with the tools they need to succeed in college, employment, and independent living. We are deeply grateful to Governor Hochul, Empire State Development, and the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council for their support, and to SUNY FMCC and SUNY Cobleskill for their collaboration in creating meaningful career pathways for our students. Michael has worked tirelessly to achieve this goal, earning his GED, completing college credits, gaining independent living skills, and honing his career prep abilities. Michael began his journey at Transitions requiring 24/7 supports and worked through gaining independence, a job and great friends! Now, he’s ready to embark on his new journey with Disney College next week! We couldn’t be prouder of his dedication, perseverance, and incredible achievements. ?? Empowering young adults with autism and learning differences has always been central to our mission at The Arc Lexington. However, as we expanded our Transitions program to Albany, we realized we needed help spreading the word to families and individuals who could benefit most from our services. That’s when Siena College’s School of Business stepped in, turning our challenge into a powerful learning opportunity. Dean Rashmi Assudani and Dr. Adam Nguyen, alongside their talented MBA students, embraced our program as a real-world case study. These future business leaders analyzed our marketing strategies, offered thoughtful recommendations, and presented a comprehensive plan tailored to enhance awareness and engagement. The results? A deeper connection to the community, actionable insights to grow our reach, and a shared commitment to empowering neurodiverse young adults to succeed in college, the workforce, and independent living.
