Robyn Casias’ allegations against AT&T prove that discrimination can happen anywhere. Just a month before she came out as #transgender, she received a Service Excellence Award from AT&T. And then, despite their thoroughly-written #discrimination policy, “the long and successful career she had enjoyed at AT&T while presenting as male came to a screeching, unlawful halt". ? We can’t trust corporations to safeguard the trans community. ? And in post-Roe America, it’s clear that we can’t trust the Supreme Court to do so either. Bostock v. Clayton County (the case that protects LGBTQ+ employees under Title VII) could be overturned at any time. ??? In order to truly defend LGBTQ+ rights, we must ensure that discrimination based on gender identity, assigned sex, and/or sexual orientation is explicitly protected at a national level.
