Since 2016, The Wakaboomee Program has been dedicated to empowering youth through STEAM, Wellness, and Entrepreneurship Education. We were here before COVID, and we stood strong during it - when kids needed us most. During the pandemic, we saw firsthand how stress and anxiety weighed heavily on children. They needed a space to talk, process, and heal - so we created Wakaboomee Mindfulness with Dr. Janelle Ellis-Holloway. For years, Dr. Janelle met consistently with K-5 students, helping them navigate the challenges of life with tools for resilience, emotional regulation, and inner strength. Thanks to selfless volunteers like Gabrielle Rivero of Express & Release Therapeutic Dance, Jhazmere Preston, MS, LCMHC, LCAS-A, aka: Mr. HealthyMindz, and Nicole Wallace, LCMHC, NCC, PMH-C Wakaboomee Mindfulness has expanded. Now, youth of ALL ages have a space to regroup, share, and find community. Every Wednesday, these FREE Sessions give youth a place to connect, instead of retreating into screens and isolation. They learn that they are not alone - and that stress, when managed mindfully, does not have to define them. Our Mindfulness Sessions are here to stay. We are committed to providing this platform forever, because our kids need it now more than ever. This is why we host events like the Wakaboomee Earth Day Gala - to fundraise and sustain life-changing programs like this one. These sessions serve churches, after-school programs, STEM camps, and entire communities, reminding us all of our resilience, strength, and ability to thrive.
