The Storytellers Portrait Series is a multimodal project in celebration of NYC pride and culture, driven by vibrant stories of local Black and Brown creatives and entrepreneurs. On November 19th, we celebrated the grand opening of our new office and content studio at 550 Broad Street in Downtown Newark. It was a powerful day, surrounded by our team, customers, contributors, investors, family, and friends who’ve supported us every step of the way. Big thanks to everyone who showed up, sent birthday wishes, or posted words of encouragement. Your support means everything. Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, we celebrated two incredible milestones at pocstock: our 5th birthday AND the grand opening of our new office in downtown Newark New Jersey with a ribbon-cutting ceremony! ??? I’ve had the privilege of being part of this journey since 2020, helping build a robust infrastructure that played a key role in scaling our inclusive library from 1,500 to over 800,000 assets and growing our contributor base from 100 to 900. To finally be in a physical space is a huge achievement for our 5-year-old startup, and I’m beyond excited to see where we go next! A huge congratulations to our founders, Steve Jones and DeSean Brown, on this momentous occasion. Your vision and dedication have made this all possible! Special thanks to our MC for the day, Free Marie W. for bringing the energy and keeping the program moving, Ethan Davis and his company Epic Total Entertainment, for keeping the music flowing, and MJ Sansait-Benito, our Operations Manager, for leading this effort in partnership with Transform The Hustle ensuring that this event was a huge success! ???? ? Meet Black Parade Route grantee, Rita Bunatal. She’s the unstoppable, creative, and strategic powerhouse behind Malaika Collective; a community-based and culture-driven creative agency based in New York. The idea was sparked back in 2015 while Rita was in college and recognized the disconnect that existed between the African diaspora and the U.S. Her goal was to create a way to bridge that gap. ? Almost ten years later, she’s provided a platform for countless Black artists, designers, and entrepreneurs to showcase their talents. When asked how the grant was able to contribute to her dream, Rita expressed the way it helped increase her overall revenue and create opportunities for other individuals when she was able to expand her team. ? “The Black Parade Route is a gift that truly keeps on giving.” - Rita Bunatal
