???? Congratulations to our partners at Foothill Transit for securing a well-deserved grant from the California State Transportation Agency! This funding is a significant step towards ensuring a strong future for greener and more sustainable #PublicTransit. We're proud to support Foothill Transit as we work together to drive #innovation in clean transportation solutions.
We are thrilled to share that ZEBRA member, Foothill Transit, has been awarded a $16.89 million grant from the California State Transportation Agency Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP)! This funding will support the purchase of 30 hydrogen fuel cell buses, enhance traffic signal priority for existing lines, and introduce a new line connecting local communities to key transit hubs. Foothill Transit continues to lead the way in zero-emission public transportation, with the largest fleet of hydrogen buses in the nation. We are proud to have Roland Cordero, Director of Maintenance and Vehicle Technology at Foothill Transit, as the ZEBRA Executive Chair. Roland’s leadership is invaluable as we work together to drive sustainability and innovation in transportation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. #Transdev's #MobilityChangeMakers embody our commitment to #SafetyFirstSafetyAlways. For the past 17+ years, Teodoro Escalante, a driver at our San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) South Bay location, has demonstrated an impeccable safety record. He appreciates the his responsibility to the well-being of his passengers and our #community. In a recent incident caught on his bus camera video, Teodoro's quick thinking and awareness of his surroundings prevented a potential tragedy. As he was approaching an intersection, Teodoro noticed a pedestrian standing unusually close to the curb. Sensing that something didn't seem quite right, and already traveling below the speed limit, Teodoro was able to gradually stop the bus as the pedestrian darted out in front of the vehicle. Thanks to Teodoro's vigilance and deliberate actions the pedestrian was not injured. Following safety protocol, he was able to secure his vehicle and alert dispatch and authorities. We're grateful for Teodoro's dedication to keeping our roads safe and we're proud to celebrate him as a true Mobility Change Maker.
