?? The California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) just fined Honda $632,500 for violating the California Consumer Privacy Act. According to the CPPA, the automaker: ?? Used a legacy consent tool that “failed to offer Californians their privacy choices in a symmetrical or equal way” (aka, a dark pattern) ?? Made it difficult for consumers and authorized agents to opt out of data sales and sharing ?? Required Californians to provide excessive personal data when exercising their privacy rights While this fine might seem like small beans, California companies should take note as this case highlights that: ? Slightly belated, but after 5+ amazing years of building at BCG X, I'm starting a new adventure - bringing data rights to everyone! To my BCG family, I learned so much from all of you. You elevated me from a techy AI PM, to someone who could pitch to the C-Suites of the biggest companies in the world and write strategy decks in my sleep (which, sometimes I basically did). There are too many people to thank, but a couple of mentors include Heidi Kim, Christian Maas, Sam Juraschka Allen. After a bit of a break to travel (AMA about Mongolia's Naadam Festival), I did a workshop course with the The Aspen Institute on AI Ethics and Governance. This, in turn, led me to my seek out my new role: Building Cool Stuff for Privacy at Transcend! No spoilers - but it's going to be amazing.
